Rain and fog are my favorite weather for photography. And I bought an FA last night, found where I can pick up batteries for it, and ordered FP4 for my first film to put through it.

I strongly recommend shooting Hp5 for landscapes and portraits, at anything from iso 50 to iso 1600. It's a terrific film for everything.

I’m interested in buying the FA but is it “reliable” like the FM2 and the FE2? By the way, soothing video! I enjoy it a lot!

Good question, Putera! I have shot with the Nikon FA quite a bit (as you can see from my other videos on this channel). I have found it be a very reliable camera. As it is relatively less well known compared to the FM2 or FE2, you’ll likely find these to be better kept and a little bargain to boot too. With regards to imagery, it’s not about about the camera but how/what you make of what you shoot with it! Great to hear you enjoyed the video and let me know if you have any other questions! 🙌🏽🙏🏽

It is not certain whether it is the FG or the FA that is the most unreliable Nikon of that time. However, that is only in comparison to other Nikon models. Compared to equivalent age Canon, Pentax, Minolta, and Olympus, both the FA and FG are very reliable. So, no, it is not as reliable as FM2 or FE2, but in context of the wider world of 80's film cameras, the FA is a very reliable camera. Don't get caught up in silly things some people on KZitem say. Any 30 or 40 year old camera can have a problem the day after you get it, even an FE2, but chances are that a good condition FA will give you years of reliable service.

Nice video. It appears that the first Ilford HP was released in 1935, whereas Kodak Tri-X was launched in 1954. Both film stocks were iso 160 back then.

Nice video, nice results. Maybe I missed it, but I was wondering at what iso speed you shot it that day. As you describe not to use it in low contrast conditions, and a terrential rain sounds like quite a low-contrast situation... But the results are not flat at all. Did you correct or ?
@ahsanabbasphotography

Hi Olli4, I reckon probably around f11 but it was quite a while back now so a bit of a guestemation. There were quite a few places where there was a high contrast environment however HP5+ is quite a forgiving film due to its wide exposure latitude thereby giving you more control in Dev after you have shot a roll. Hope this helps!
@Olli4

@@ahsanabbasphotography it does, but maybe I should have made the question clearer: did you push the film in this case, or did you shoot it at box speed? Anyways, I have some rolls in the fridge for my 645, will give it a go, in the grey rainy weather we seem to be getting the next 5 days here in Belgium! Have a good one!
