@@siddhantbhat6048 It's not "fake nice" --it's genuine kindness with the social expectation of passivity, which comes out as passive aggression in situations where people from other regions may be more direct (like a conflict with a neighbor). Think southern hospitality + "bless your heart" --southern hospitality is still real hospitality, but there's a social reservation to flat out say "wtf are you doing?". A Minnesotan neighbor would help you clean your gutters (genuine kindness), but would likely have a very difficult time saying "stop letting your doc shit in my yard" ---so they might be passive aggressive about how they address it. My Dad was from a tiny town of 700 people in Wisconsin, situated between Milwaukee and Madison. He received his Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. In his college years, he attended the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. He decided that he'd get a job here in Southern California and never live another Midwestern winter... So, he was hired in the defense industry. He met and married my mom, who was a Pasadena girl who'd been a finalist in the Rose Court. He is the only person I've ever known who received a ticket for driving too slowly. BTW, my Wisconsin family are the kindest people I've ever met.
