Hello sir, I was pulled over for going 13 mph over the speed limit in Woodridge, IL. The road was dry, night time and clear conditions. I was working doing food deliveries, (Uber Eats), and had ran late for one of the stops. This is my first ticket, and I have a clean record. I do not know if I should plea not guilty; I was driving safely and aware of my surroundings, given the conditions.

do you file a foia to request for calibration info in Illinois or do you file a motion. I have no court appearance necessary. I received 17 mph violation and 32 mph incident. One traffic Stop in Livingston County, IL Fairbury. The 17 came first and then 32 which he stated was a warning. Flashing lights only to pull me over in daytime, no sound alarm until 32 mph, never alarmed me while allegedly driving 17 which was in the township limits. I would like to file FOIA for calibration info and if tuning fork was used, which not quit sure is required.

I got a class b misdemeanor at 74 on a 45 on 63rd street near Cass. I was speeding for a little bit I was driving my dads car and I haven't used it ever before and it just went so much faster than I thought it would. I felt like I was just accelerating really fast not speeding and I immediately started braking as I approached another vehicle then I took a right and found there was a cop car trying to catch up to me so I pulled over. This is my first time getting pulled over and my first misdemeanor. I only had my license for about 3 months and was wondering how bad the punishment will be.

I didn't know it could accelerate that fast.

Sorry to hear about the ticket. Yes a nice car can get you up to speed pretty quickly! As you know, it’s a misdemeanor charge. My recommendation is to hire a lawyer of course. Feel free to call our firm. But it’s too early to guess what the punishment will be. That’s not the correct way of looking at it. A good lawyer will first review the evidence, speak with the prosecutor, review your background, etc. Then we would look to see what options we have to resolve it in a way that won’t result in a criminal offense on your record. Good luck!

Hi just curious a friend of mine got pulled over in McHenry for going 66mph in a 35 , she has a clean record but she lives in Florida not IL. Since she went 26 mph over she got a Class B misdemeanor, the officer didn’t arrest her but did provide a citation with a court date and said she will have to come back. What should she know before she does anything?

It's a misdemeanor so it can affect both your driving record and criminal record. If she's convicted, it will be reported back to Florida because it is her home state. Also, if she gets court supervision, it will be reported back. But I don't believe Florida has court supervision so they may view it as a conviction. Long story short, hire a lawyer. Call our office if you want a recommendation for McHenry County.

Hi I was pulled over in Illinois for going 35+ over the speed limit and it was my first offense and I have a clean record, do you think I will end up having to serve jail time? I didn’t hurt anyone or do anything seriously wrong, I just sped down an open road with no one on it and was freezing and he got me

I just got court supervision for 4 months and have to complete a 4 hour traffic school class and pay $250 in court fees. I was doing 68 in a 40. I think it’s kinda bs but it beats jail time. Just ask for court supervision and don’t get another speeding ticket during those 4 months or you might be screwed

Automated camera tickets are not considered moving violations and do not affect your record.

hey so i got court supervison and ive gotten 2 tickets since, what would happen when i go back to court?

They will probably file a violation of supervision and try to turn it into a conviction. The right lawyer might be able to prevent that. In fact, a lawyer who REALLY knows what they’re doing will also manage the 2 new cases the right way and make sure you get the best outcome on all 3. Let us know if you need help.

Hello so if I am under 21 and have two prior Speeding tickets for 15-25 over limit and get a 3rd while being under 21 and it’s been over a year since the last what could happen? I never got a lawyer at the time for the two previous because I could not afford one to help me fight them. My 3rd most recent was in a town going 26 over and I was shown on the radar I was going over but I just don’t believe he got me going in the speed zone he said. I believe he caught me when I was coming out of a different speed zone but said I was in another still going at that speed. Just trying to look for answers before court thanks!

Since you are under 21, if you get 2 convictions within a 2 year period, you will be suspended. Notice I said “convictions.” So what happened on your first two tickets? It seems like you avoided a conviction on at least one of them because you haven’t been suspended. So that history informs us of how thin the ice is for you. If one of those priors was a conviction, I’d you get convicted on the new one, you’ll be suspended. Plus the new one is a misdemeanor. Long story short: hire a local lawyer Good luck!

Hi there sir, I was pulled over around 1 am by a police officer on W North Ave 64, Glendale Heights for a class b misdemeanor at 72 mph in a 45 mph zone (in all honesty I was going over the speed limit as I didn’t pay attention to my speedometer but the moment I seen the lights I immediately looked at it and it said 64 mph, but I didn’t argued about it with the officer at the scene) it’s my first speeding ticket and I have a clean record since I got my license back in 2016, what should I expect and what can I do not lose points on my license? Or for my insurance rates to go up? Thank you in advance!

Good questions. I'm sorry to hear you got a ticket. First of all, it's good you realize that it is a Class B misdemeanor. You will have court in the Glendale Heights Branch Court. They will probably not require you to have a lawyer but you may want to consider it. I often see people getting bad outcomes that could have been prevented with an attorney. It's good you have a clean record. You want to keep it that way. Of course, the best outcome is getting the ticket dismissed or be found not guilty. The next best would probably be getting the ticket amended down to a slower speed. Then, when it's a petty ticket, you'd want to get court supervision. You'd have some fines and maybe classes or community service to do. It depends what is negotiated. Supervision on a petty ticket would not cause a conviction or points on your Illinois license. It would also not cause your insurance rates to go up because your insurance company would not even see the ticket in that scenario. Long story short, at least talk to a lawyer. Feel free to call our firm (we have an office less than 10 minutes from where you received the ticket). Or call any one of the other great lawyers in Chicagoland. But you should get a full consultation. Good luck!
