The Nobiscum Foundation would like to invite you to the premiere of the film “Illuminations. Ignacy Łukasiewicz (1822-1882)”, which we made thanks to the co- funding of the City of Płock.
Ignacy Łukasiewicz is a pioneer of the oil industry, whose invention of the paraffin lamp had a huge impact on the progress of civilization in the second half of the 19th century and significantly improved the quality of life of people all over the world. He was also a Polish independence activist, a man of great heart, an advocate of education and the initiator of creating social organizations and schools. In this way, he carried light throughout his life in both, a literal and symbolic sense. To this day, in places associated with his life, commemorations in the form of monuments, plaques and murals are created. These are the places we visited while working on the film, not forgetting the Subcarpathian Museum in Krosno, the collection of which includes valuable memorabilia of Łukasiewicz as well as a priceless collection of paraffin lamps, and the Museum of Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka - where, thanks to the hero of our film, the first oil mine in the world was established.
The film will be available from Friday, September 23 on the website of the Nobiscum Foundation and our channels on KZitem, Facebook and Vimeo with Polish and English subtitles.
