Love a lady who's not afraid to get dirty! Good luck with the build. Working on vehicles is always frustrating, I live in New England where EVERYTHING rusts!!

Your last Vid wasnt too bad at all and remember that you get better at this with time and experience, Either way I think most of us appreciate your sharing the journey and dont take TOO much notice of the comments lol As for the rails? Well Id go the hard core demolition route, Angle grinder from the top and just cut a wide slot down the center of the bolt to weaken the head, then id grab a big old Pin Punch, set it over the middle of whats left of the head and with a mash hammer just Pop the bolt firmly once or twice till she broke and dropped down the bottom of the bus. So the slot you cut weakens the screw, the Pin punch and hammer busts the head right off and pops it through the floor. As for the rusty steel? Well a twisted wire cone brush on an angle grinder will take that scale and rust right off and bar finding any nasties you can rust proof and seal the floor for whatever you put back on top, Most bus floors get Slop Mopped regularly so water damage, rot and rust will always be an issue with School buses. Now remember that your personality is what makes your Video's interesting, Be you and no one else because it IS working and youve given me a few chuckles and smiles and im sure most of the other regular viewers too. Thanks for sharing! Tony Victoria, Australia.

It’s coming together. I’ve taken seats out before and had to use a grinder and torch to get them out. Your bus has different bolts evidently. Good job...you’ll learn a great deal. Don’t forget to install a nice toolbox on or under your bus..it WILL come in handy! 🤩

Welcome back! It's good to see you making some progress. The prep work you're doing now may be royal pain, but you'll be glad you did it when you get farther into your build. As for being busy and having very little time to devote to your bus project, busy is good! Working to build up funds is also an important part of building your bus. It took me a year and change to install solar panels on the roof of my car. I bought parts and supplies when I had a little extra money. I installed those parts and supplies when I had time. Unfortunately, I never had time when I had money or money when I had time. That's just one of life's little quirks. You'll probably experience much the same as you put your bus together. One thing you have that I didn't, is friends and family with both a willingness to help and the skills to help you make this dream a reality. My friends and family were willing, but lacked the necessary skills. Keep plugging away at it as you're able and you'll do just fine.

Hi Mal. That was a good video. We could hear it all, and you made it into a good story. It's never as easy as it looks to make a good video. But, you're learning. Good stuff and well done. Those Allen screws should all drill out from the top pretty easily. A good drill bit will take the heads off the screws and you can just pull the rails straight up. Give it a go on one to try.

the bus is looking great ,, lots of hard work going in to the beginning of this project , it'll make you appreciate it that much more i haven't personally built a skoolie yet ,, i have built several tiny homes and currently live in a custom built tiny home i built myself over the winter in 2001 into 2002 when i was unable to work after an auto accident ,,it's much larger than an RV or even a bus the trailer is 45 feet long and 108 inches wide and weighs 18 tons and has 440 square feet of space when the 4 slideouts are pulled IN ,,and add another 125 when they are open,,i have a custom built V12 powered RV toter truck to pull it as well ,,i can live totally off the grid for weeks at a time and in fact rarely use shore power except to charge my batteries ,,my solar panels produce 5KW even on a fully overcast day and on a bright sunny day closer to 12KW ,, my solar array has 30 2ft by 4ft panels each capable of 550 watts averaging 420 on a sunny day

So this is water under the bridge now, but my question is this: Why bother taking out the seat rails at all? You could just lay down planks of plywood over them in order to make a smooth floor surface. Their left-in-place presence could only serve to strengthen the structual integrity of the sub-floor, which was, as you noted, a concern. Plus, if you so desired, with all the removed seats you've got there it would be an easy matter to salvage their leg foot cleats, for later retrofit installation on anything you would like to secure in place (on those floor tracks) for your conversion: cabinets, counters, a stove, sofa, bed, or other fixtures. Just a thought.
