Thanks; I love my Peterson lighter, which is almost identical to the IM Corona Old Boy. Flint's are critical, although my lighter works even with a small piece of Flint left. I also used to smoke Don Tomas, but mostly Montecristo currently.

I have a Lubinski pipe lighter. A large, heavy pipe lighter. I also have several cheaper Hudson, Silver Match metal pipe lighters wheich sometimes perform better, sometimes worse. But I have found that there are several flints available. Zippo flints, Dunhill flints, chinese cheaper flints... There are basically different kinds of hardness to a flint, as well as somewhat different materials to flints. When I have a problem with lighting on these "specialty" lighters, I find that usually, softer flints spark better, regardless of the brand name. I now always have several different on hand and change them first if something is amiss. After that I go about checking other workings with a lighter. Regarding cigars... I came to pipe smoking from cigars. I was always fascinated with pipe smoking, but preferred cigars. I find pipe and cigar smoking similar, but not the same. I also smoke Don Tomas a lot, as they are, like in Croatia, good value/perfomance cigars, one of the few in the lower price range, since selection of cigars over here is quite scarce. Over here, in Slovenia, the first lower priced were available Don Tomas Clasico and Maduro in about 4 Euro/stick range. Now, for several years, they also have bundle variety, first there were Dos Gonzales, which were later rebranded Don Tomas Dominican, which are very good sticks for 2 Euro+ per stick. Then they expanded to Don Tomas Honduras, which are different flavor profile, also good smokes for the money and now they also have bundle Nicaragua, purple label, which I am not very fond of, since flavor profile is very mild. There are also Don Tomas boxed version Nicaragua blue label, which are very good, but start at 5 Euros+ per stick, which I do smoke ocasionally, but are too much for me to buy per box. I smoke them all, but love Dominicans, like Honduras, and do not care much for nicaraguans purple bundle, since I like stronger flavor profile. All are good construction and as you said, you get what you pay for. But blue label Nicaraguans are great, alas more expensive. Also good value for money are La Estrella polar (La Estrella Cubana in US), also nicaraguan cigars, which are great for the money. These are not your average premiums, but still very good smokes for the money. For the money and flavor profile, I think nicaraguan cigars and tobacco is by far the best (my profile flavor) and comes closest to cuban cigars profile. I do smoke cheaper cubans, but anything less than about 8 Euros per stick is a hit-or-miss cubans, not counting Vuelta Abajo or Vuelta Arriba terroir tobacco harvest. Good cheaper cubans are Jose L. Piedra, but still they cannot compare to, say, Quintero, which is also a cheaper cuban, but different origin - Piedras are Vuelta Arriba, Quinteros are Vuelta Abajo tobacco areas. I do know there are Quinteros available in Croatia, as I buy them when I am on vacation in Ugljan island and frequent Zadar area each year. Take care my friend, Robert

I had problems with my Old Boy and the flintstone and I found out that it works best with 2 flintstones in it.
