@@chriskayler5849 Not really. He had Stage 4 Kidney Disease, He had already donated a Kidney himself years ago and so was down to his last one. I lost my father when i was 18 years of age , irony of ironies he died of a massive heart attack in a medical center in 1988 , there were no defibs in the building(in a medical center ,there were four doctors on him trying to resuscitate him to no avail would a defib have saved his life , we will never know ) my mother and my oldest sister were with him and could do nothing but watch (heartbreaking for them) one of my older brother had to come to my door to let me know , heartbreaking for him and for me , I wish I had the opportunity to say to my father that i loved him dearly and held his hand before he passed .

Written for his daddy, who’s the gentleman in the video, when he had terminal kidney disease. His dad had previously donated a kidney, and was now in need of one himself. James and all close family were not matches. James and his daddy Charles are both retired British army officers. We’re very good at stiff upper lip stuff here in England. This was incredibly brave of both men to do. Our James is a legend. He’s a very funny man, with a very beautiful soul.

I lost my dad recently, this song and Alter Bridge - Blackbird are the most powerful for me. Try listening to this when your dad is terminally ill in 30-40 years (hopefully not sooner) Your audio is bad, you speaking just comes through the right channel (ear) and we can hear the squeak of your chair (not a big deal on its own but you're audio goes from silent to chair squeak and fan/AC. 4:52 I heard high hats and and base drum, what was that? Did you add that or is it just you're audio kicking in for a second? This comment is meant to be helpful, if I went rogue i'm sorry

04:03 "You can feel my hand on your own" is wrong. The correct lyrics are: "You can feel my hand on your arm". I see this mistake everywhere. Even Iam Tongi from American Idol sung it wrong. Just replay this verse a few times, you can very clearly hear James Blunt saying "arm" not "own".

We never know when our last day is. My husband lost his dad at 16, he was 39. Go hug your dad, sit and have a cup of coffee with him talking. Take time to tell him you love him, tomorrow isn't promised. Say things now when there is time. It can happen so fast, hug them, tell them you love them, make sure they know the words got said.

If you have not seen it look up the 18 year old Hawaiian boy who sang it at the American Idle try outs. Later in season him and James Blunt got to perform it together & there was not a dry eye at the stadium! Same for everyone watching at home too. Just a great freaking song 🤍🤍🤍
