On the fourth strum of the C chord in the verses, John adds an extra note that moves into the F chord. This small detail can be added by moving down to the second fret on the A string for that fourth strum. For those having a bit of trouble with the three-note lick on the fourth beat of the measure on F, this would be just as effective in embellishing the song while being a bit easier to manage.

Great tutorial. I love that you detail the song so well. The timeline helps to pinpoint the section of the song I want to return to for more practice. I do come back and work on different sections day after day. So I would have to say I'm a fan of the longer version video. Thanks once again for a great lesson plan.

Checking out more Ukelele info every day. Long time guitar player; recently took up ukelele and just started teaching my newly-turned-6 granddaughter some music. Got her a Kala KA-CG Mahogany Concert and a Kala KA-STG Mahogany/Spruce Tenor for myself. So thank you for this tutorial, as I will now be adding "Imagine" to my very thin-but-growing Ukelele repertoire. Found out I'm better off learning new material than transferring previously learned songs from guitar. By the way, I also watched your 3 tenor comparison video. Those Kala instruments I got do not have that high-gloss finish, but I do like the sound of their ukeleles a lot. "What the world needs now is ukelele." - Jake Shimabukuro, introduction to live "Bohemian Rhapsody". Peace,
@BernadetteTeachesMusic
6 жыл бұрын
:) I love Jake's performance of Bohemian Rhapsody... the one he performed at the TED conference, correct? Glad you enjoyed this tutorial :) I had to modify/simplify the chords to adapt them for a beginner to ukulele without losing the integrity of the song. Once my audience has more easy songs to learn from, I'll record this again and add a few more of the chords that would make it sound more authentic. Thank you for also watching the Kala review! Every single review, comment, and "like" tells KZitem to recommend my channel to more people, which helps a lot! Let me know how your granddaughter progresses :)
@don6538
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the TED performance! No problem about the basic chords; it's really about the inspiration. Seems like there's also a Cmaj7-th (or something) in the verse, before the F change?. (Speaking of "Something", Harrison uses C, Cmaj7, C7 in his verse.) Love me some maj7. Love me some Beatles too. They landed when I was in high school. Just starting out with the teaching thing. Thinking about open tuning the Concert to G-C-E-G so she can strum songs immediately using 1 finger barre chords. That should get some immediate positive motivation. Kind of like what Richie Havens did in the 60s folk circuit and then later at Woodstock. She kind of starting doing something like that on her own. Thank you for teaching music.
