We have about 80 thousand thoughts everyday and that is just an average.
For us over-thinkers we have way more. Sensitives #hsp are known to be deep thinkers so we have ALOT of thoughts which can be exhausting.
We can easily get hijacked by our thoughts. It's when our thoughts are on autopilot that we have the #monkeymind.
In this video I teach 3 easy tools to calm the overactive mind and therefore bring more peace.
1. Pay attention to your thoughts so that you can catch them and change them
2. Practice mindfulness so that you are in the present moment more often. It is in the present moment that we find peace.
3. Make sure you balance your negative thoughts with ones that uplift you.
The more you practice these tips the more peace and joy you will have and less #overwhelm .
SPS or sensory processing sensitivity is the innate trait that highly sensitive people have or #hsp
HSPs have brains that are wired differently than those without the trait.
As an HSP myself and a licensed psychotherapist specializing in the trait that we sensitives have, I get it! Check out my website for more ways to reduce burnout and increase joy !

As a highly sensitive person we often have feelings of #shame because we are different. Feeling misunderstood or like others don't get us is common.
3 common characteristics of HSPs can lead to feelings of shame:
1. HSPs have more needs because we are more #sensitive. The more sensitive you are the more needs you have just like an orchid due to its sensitivity has more needs than a daisy.
HSPs need more rest and more sleep to help regulate the nervous system
2. HSPs have a great capacity for #empathy. We feel things on a deep level that others often don't. Because we feel things so deeply we can feel different from others.
3. Due to our sensitive nervous systems HSPs can easily get overstimulated leading to exhaustion and #stress.
The nervous system of an HSP is more finely calibrated therefore it takes less stimulation or arousal to create stress.
It is important that HSPs find ways to #regulate their nervous systems.

About 20-30% of the world's population are HSP's or highly sensitive people. That's about 2 billion people.
Highly sensitive people or HSP's have the trait called sensory processing sensitivity. We are born with it. Often one of our parents has it too.
Dr Elaine Aron coined the anacronym DOES to explain the trait.
D stands for depth of processing. We are deep thinkers.
O stand for overstimulation. Our nervous systems take in A LOT of information and we can get overstimulated.
E stand for empathy or emotional reactivity. We have a deep capacity to feel emotions and to feel for others.
S stands for sensing the subtleties. We notice every little thing.
