You summed up things beautifully. I was a Submarine operator in the 70's. It is a fantastic attraction. And, Walt so loved the Monorail. Many of the folks I worked with came from Disneyland's early days, much like Bob Gurr. They were all people of many hats, many talents.

Bob Gurr is one of the ten most influential people in theme park history! Also one of the nicest, as I’ve gotten to meet him in person twice and he is a fascinating person to spend a lunch talking to (I won a contest!)....Kinda funny realizing, especially with how rough the ride is now, that the Matterhorn was seen as an ALTERNATIVE to rough, jerky rides!!
