So little known fact. The ring around the rosey song was actually talking about the black plague and how many wealthy people kept posey in their pockets to help with the smell of the rats during that time. The last part of the song, "ashes, ashes, we all fall down", is referring to the bodies of diseased people that were burned to keep the spread of the virus down.

The “Ring Around the Rosie” rhyme is about the Black Plague that swept through Europe. A “rosie” is in reference to the circular rash, a result of the plague, that smelled really bad. “Posies” are flower petals (and possibly bouquets) that were put into peoples clothes/pockets to try cover the strong smell of the rash on the skin. There were so many deaths from the plague that many ppl were cremated, so “ashes, ashes”. “And we all fall down” at the end of the rhyme is about people dying from the plague.

0:40 Nah, Ring Around the Rosie wouldn't be in here. It was a nursery rhyme actually about the Black Plague, otherwise known as the Black Death/Great Plague. The "Ring around the rosie" line was to represent the rashes and boils or whatever you'd get on your skin. The "Pockets full of posies" was because people kept flowers in their pockets so that they could pull them out when crossing paths with a dead body of a plague victim, since they dropped whenever wherever and it often took a while to clean them all up because of how many there were (or, alternatively, they were used to try and either treat the disease as herbs or mask the smell of the sickness itself). The "Ashes, ashes" was the cremation of the bodies, since a lot of the time the bodies of the deceased were often buried in large numbers in large ditches, burned, or both (most likely both, I just remembered they also buried them in large dug graves so I'm assuming they burned them and often buried them afterwards). "We all fall down" is pretty self-explanatory; death. They just dropped like flies, literally, because it was hard to calculate when you'd actually die so people could've been literally anywhere doing literally anything and just drop dead just like that. Sorry if I ruined it for anyone, but I wanted to add this as a fact 😂

I mean if they sing the racist version or the worst ones yeah but that’s kinda ignorant if you don’t allow it because of phased out history that was so irrelevant that you were like 15+ years old when you learned of it original version. Things are changed so we improve them, nothing always carries the original meaning. That’s like saying Obama or Bush is a racist because they were presidents and Thomas Jefferson was a president before that was racist. Entirely different words, entirely different meaning in the current day.
@Himathyyy

@@Himathyyy How is it racist now when it doesn’t contain a single racist word. I can see that in some of the things in the middle of the video where whole song contained racist words and had a direct and obvious racist theme. If things that were once racist are always racist people should just give up on making America a racism free place. If you’re gonna make sure everybody is controlled by the racism that happened in the past even if we eventually get to a place when racism is almost gone that’s just dumb. Meanings change, nothing that last around a century or over maintains its same exact meaning. The most advanced and modern words we use come from things that represented simple thing like water or animals in entirely different ancient languages. I want this world to change for the better, saying things never change is a pessimistic way of thinking that will never get you anywhere.

I'm starting to think that these people back then lowkey wanted to be us. They danced like us, dressed like us, made songs about us, tried to look like us, like bruh! If I hated someone, I don't want to see, hear, or think about them, but they were so invested in the average black person's character, vernacular, and way of life, that they felt the need to mock us. That ain't hatred, that feels and sounds like jealousy to me. Or maybe I'm just thinking too hard 🤷🏿♂️

it had a lot to do with fascination. From my experiences whites have been more fascinated in the culture of yall rather than hating the culture. and even today I think that number has increased. white kids that be growing up in communities with little to no minorities get interested in the culture. (plus in our generation you get bullied for being "too white")

Today in this new generation they do the same. I feel like they hatted up back then because we taught them so much. But in this " new time" they wanna be so much like us i feel. From the culture, melanin features like a woman's behind or her breast. All the way from the hairstyles etc. This world got so much hate and its sad.. ( My opinion 🤷🏽♀️ )

I remember working at a mini golf and rv park and these 2 dad's brought their kids to play mini golf on Father's Day, so they let the kids do Rock, paper scissors and they tied probably 5 times in a row so one of the dad's said ok that's enough and was like"ok here we go eenie meenie miney moe, catch a n***** by the toe" I guess he remembered the original a little too well

Story time: once my parents left me and my sister at my house with my uncle to watch us while my parents went to some dancing event. My uncle went to use my parents restroom since he was closer to it so I followed him and went on top of my parents bed while he was in the restroom. I was jumping on the I fell off and landed on the ground but my head hit some metal thing with nails and one of them went right into my forehead and I started crying and bleeding out my forehead. I’ll I can remember after that is my uncle’s white shirt being covered with tons of blood and me 1 minute laying on the hospital bed. Till this day I still have the lil scar on my forehead
