Currently living in Lisbon, Sheryl talks about the challenges and stigma of immigration and how it can solve various problems, and how Portugal can be an example to be followed by other countries.
Sheryl Winarick is an immigration layer, helping people from around the world navigate the legal system to live and work in the USA.
Sheryl's highest purpose is to inspire joy and curiosity by helping to model the possibility that we can live harmoniously in community. She enjoys traveling, where she finds the opportunity to connect people, exploring culture and identity. At work, she seeks to facilitate the healthy integration of immigrants and refugees and to encourage communities to value and celebrate uniqueness.
Following her TED talk in 2016, Sheryl incubated a migration-related project at the TED office, leading her to collaborate with TEDx organisers and other community leaders around the world, building bridges and deepening relationships in communities. In 2018, she engaged with communities from 20 countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia on an epic journey of 10,000 kilometres from Germany to Mongolia in a car decorated with graffiti written by artists along the way. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
