Essentially this has to do with the Hegelian dialectic. Create the problem ( thesis ), get the public to demand a solution based on a lack of knowledge ( antithesis ) and then manufacture the solution ( synthesis) The average public doesn’t know what is being done to them. Amazing! For quite some time I've thought that there was a direct correlation between inflammation, nutrition and weight. Over the past year I've changed my entire lifestyle. I've modified my nutritional habits, sleep pattern, activity level, mental state, etc.; I've incorporated intermittent fasting and in a little over a year have loss 70+ lbs, reversed type 2 diabetes and have experienced an immense amount of overall benefits. The one thing I did notice is that after hurting my wrist Mountain biking and doing 3 rounds of prescription Naprosyn my weight loss actually increased. I attributed it to the anti inflammatory as it appeared to have an overall positive affect beyond my wrist injury...now I know why. Great video. Thank you.

NAC has also been shown to reduce and even reverse some of the effects of stroke if taken soon enough. So if you are having a stroke get your partner to pour NAC into you. Cant hurt, and may limit the effects, whilst your on your way to hospital. I carry it in powdered form in my bag. The LUPUS connection for NAC is fascinating for me - they inadvertently found my pancreas has a ton of idiopathic calcification - the possibility of some past or present autoimmune cause though not shown, shouldn't be ruled out, thus NAC on a daily basis also not a bad idea, for many reasons, and cannot hurt.

It is awesome that Dr. Guggenheim knows inflammation/immunometabolism, but why would other doctors ask an anesthesiologist about management of CRP, inflammation and immunomodulation? Dr. Guggenheim's specialty is a medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery. Sometimes, anesthesiologists open up chronic pain clinics such as Dr. Guggenheim. I would definitely trust her for that. If I ask an anesthesiologist about the topic that she is talking now, they probably would ask why am I asking them questions about those topics? (They might even get mad at me). Sounds like she is now a functional medicine doctor which is great, but please clarify.

They seemed so dedicated and interested in the “life style” change. Two years ago this month when my MD just told me two things. First the psoriases is an autoimmune disease( which I have had since 9 yrs old) and that if I went on a diet to deal with inflammation that I might see an improvement to the flare up I was having! Well what a trip this has been. Learning and learning and now, well, so much information. Thanks so much for this amazing video, love to know the relationship between the immune system and your metabolic machinery. I appreciate the take home massage of controlling your caloric intake, it may be the answer i m looking for, that i ve been doing keto and IF lost 14kgs within 5 months, but i put on 4kgs over the last month or so ( after doing 10 day water fast), so i kind of going backward..., i found myself eating lots of fat being on keto, i gave myself the permission to eat my coconut oil to my heart content, and having big dinner, etc...I found my stomach fat is just growing, as I didn't care about my daily calory intake and over ate.....My dad used to say " eat till you are 70% full", now I think he is right, but i may aim for 90% full first! Ok, the bottom line is excess calories, even from healthy fat or healthy macros still cause inflammation!

In other words, we dont’t want to suppress MTOR all the time and have AMPK present all tne time or that could suppress growth and repair. Very interesting interview. I wonder, on the comment about 6 year olds and body fat, if some of the issue may be stress related? I’m curious because I recently was diagnosed with cptsd at 57 and have learned about the catastrophic effects of chronic high cortisol on the body. Not only adipose fat but elevated insulin levels, inflammation and the host of ills that cascade from that. It may not be the central cause of more body fat but stress is reaching younger and younger ages and it well may be causing lifelong sickness that is going unnoticed. Curious on your thoughts.
