Frou Frou, which Imogen Heap was in, did a cover of "Holding Out for a Hero," which was played in Shrek 2's credits. This song (not this cover, specifically) was in Shrek. Layers. Coincidence? Think not. Shrek is love, Shrek is life.

@@laurenngonzalez3406 Yes, the season 1 finale had Jeff Buckley's rendition of this song. Season 3's final had this cover- Mischa Barton's Character dies in the arms of her love interest Ryan Atwood. This song was specifically covered for this scene. It's to pay homage to the character- seasons 1's ending/ Seasons 3's!

Imogen mentioned this in her recent 'Ask Me Anything' session on Reddit. She explained that she originally turned down the request to record it for the OC because she didn't have time to do it, but then she had the idea of doing it a cappella (i.e. voice only), which was much quicker than doing it with instruments!

This song never gets old! I was 12 years old when I first heard this/ watched the The OC season 3 ending. This is by far the best cover- Jeff Buckley's a firm second. I am 29 years old and I'm still in disbelief that Mischa Barton's character Marissa Cooper died by that road side.. what an emotional scene and I think personally, it's the best tv- death scene as of yet! Roswell's Alex Whitman's coming a close second ... 🫶

One of favorite parts of this song is the fact that her voice breaks when she sings "broken". Her voice is just so full of emotion in this, it gives me goosebumps.

not too many people can make songs without any instruments, just solely their voice, and Imogen Heap is definitely a pro at that. (Hide and Seek, Hallelujah, etc.) just proves how beautiful her voice really is!

What a lot of people aren't understanding is that it's SUPPOSED to be emotionless. The point of it is to put your own emotion to it. It can be sad, it can be angry... it can even be happy if you want it to be. It's emotionless, and haunting, so you can experience the song in whatever way you desire. That's what I love so much about this song. It doesn't MAKE you feel something. It allows you to feel whichever way you choose to.

The think I love about this song is the emotion in her voice. Imogen takes a sad song, and transforms it into pain and sadness and loneliness in the form of a song. Her voice is just so full of anguish and its heartbreakingly beautiful.

Wow, i'm in tears - I saw Leonard Cohen do this live and it was the most emotional concert I've ever seen, but there's something about a soft female vocal singing this rather than big notes and full bands that really hits the point of the song. Absolutely incredible, very humbling...

Even though she doesn't use many note changes or anything of that nature, Imogen has the ability to inject loads of soul and emotion into this song. If just about any other artist performed this version of Hallelujah, I would be left bored and unimpressed. But when Imogen does it, I am moved by the complexity of emotions aroused by this beautiful song.

I think this is the best version of this song because people are very critical about those who undertake covering this song as it's is SO powerful and heartbreaking and some people just sing it but Imogen Heap feels it. Whoever sings this song has to feel it. It's so wonderful.
