Dr Jon Tandy was awarded his MChem (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of York in 2006, he spent a year on an industrial placement where he worked for the analytical service group at Intertek in Manchester. In 2011 he completed his PhD at the University of York, using ab initio calculations and high-resolution laser spectroscopy to examine low-lying, interacting electronic states of BaOH. Jon then took several research positions postdoctoral, developing skills in ultracold chemistry in helium droplets, cryogenic buffer gas cooling spectroscopy, and hypervelocity impact imaging and spectroscopy. He was appointed a Lecturer in Chemistry at London Metropolitan in 2016 and began collaborating with CAPS research at Kent. Jon is working in the Division of Natural Sciences at the University of Kent as a Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry, joining in 2021.
