I like the 85mm the most, but I have an Fx3. What do you recommend?

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on these. The only thing that sucks is the 40mm protrudes too far in the rear to use the RED E-ND adapter with the V-Raptor, so I'll likely have to skip the wider end of the set, unfortunately. Originally I was just going to go with a Remus set, but the wider end of that set (33mm) protrudes even farther. So, for RED owners, this is something to consider.

It hit me while watching this, as I wait for my 50mm Remus .. The best way to tell people what an anamorphic lenses do... is that it makes things dream-like. Not in a bad/unsophisticated way. In an enigmatic/painterly way. Then it hit me as I typed that^ there is no real way to explain them. hahaha

I'm in this weird spot to were I almost want to Order the Remus B Set 33mm 50mm and the Cato 85mm because to me, those are the 3 best lenses Blazar makes and I think they would actually match pretty well.

You can make the most of the Cato 2x anamorphic lenses with Open Gate mode on your Lumix s5iix. That will give you the widest image while maintaining more height compared to the Remus 1.5x. But remember you will be limited to 30fps max in this mode. When shooting 4K60 you might as well go with the Remus 1.5x as the camera crops in.

I’ve always noticed the blur at the top and bottom in movies. The Remus doesnt have that so much, so maybe a feature of 2x?

Please make a video replicating 2x anamorphic in DaVinci Resolve on a normal spherical lens.

Nice vid, great shots. Thanks for sharing! But at 8:50 you say 20 years ago....I think you meant 2 years ago! Full frame, 2x with that coverage at those apertures? We've NEVER been able to afford that!

Hi Joris. Could you please help. How do you determine, how much percents to choose for getting 2.39:1 from 3:2 during the crop?
@JorisHermans

Are you using DaVinci Resolve?

Right-click on the clip, select Clip Attributes, and then in the Video tab set the Pixel Aspect Ratio to 1.8.

@@JorisHermans Ah no. Sorry. Seems like i've explained not correctly. I've set Clip Attributes properly and so on. But in the end there is letterbox with huge Vignette, exactly that you've showed in your video. And after that, you've cropped image to reach 2.39:1. And i need to understand, how did you determine how many percents to zoom ? in the Zoom section of DaVinci there are 1.000 for x and y. So which values did you set there? And which formula would be helpful here?
@JorisHermans

Ah, I just set the project settings to 2.39:1 and then I zoom the clip until it fills the screen vertically. That's it...

So much chromatic aberration from minute 6:01 to 6:12. This lens is an option for a low budget, but I still think the value is above quality. Tks for the video.
