Nice score Ken. I have about 2 cords of pecan that I plan to run through my 12-22 box wedge. After seeing your experience I’m guessing I might have a bunch of slash.

Sounds great Bill! I never knew Pecan grew this far North! Depending on the grain and species it “could” split like oak! Best of luck with it! Hope you’re doing well buddy!

Geez Ken I’ve had a GMG pellet smoker for years…and sure..people ask why. Just tell them that you just turn it on and walk away, gives you more time to split wood. LOL keep up the good work my friend. Enjoy 🔥🪵

Good tip! I know people tell me a pellet smoker is like an EZ Bake oven, but I don’t care. It creates awesome smoke at 200 degrees and I can let it run all by itself for overnight cooks while I sleep! That’s the main reason why! Thanks for watching and your kind words! Smoke 💨 on Mike!

Good video 👍 I don't know a thing about pecan since it doesn't grow naturally where I live in northeastern Pennsylvania. Smoking is getting more popular here other than the traditional oak, hickory, and apple.

It’s amazing Lyle how species availability is so different from NE Pa to central NJ! I sell Apple, beech, cherry, hickory, red and white oaks, mulberry, 2 kinds of maple, and now pecan for smoking purposes! Thanks for watching and commenting too! See ya on the next one!!!

Hi Ken. You are very fortunate to have a tree service company that looks out for you. That’s pretty nice. How have you learned so much on smoker wood. Like I wouldn’t have known you can leave pecan bark on the wood. Norway maple is not good for smoking . Hard maple is a good smoking wood. I haven’t heard that soft maple is good for smoking. Anyway I’ll keep watching. Have a good week. Al

Thanks Jeremiah! It was the pecan I had trouble with. Norway maple is stringy and twisted here in NJ too. 🤷♂️

You can do it! It just takes time! I started just about 2 years ago with smoker and pizza wood sales and it has exploded! Thanks for watching!
