Two IJA / IJN ditties sung in the folk song format, these short songs differ from the regular Imperial Japanese song in that they are very informal in tone and are concerned with subjects like a sweetheart waiting for her fiancé to return home safely, which are virtually absent from the vast majority of Japanese songs of this period (as opposed to their European counterparts).
Translating these was surprisingly hard as I couldn't find any non-Japanese references for the lyrics and the heavy use of hiragana and possibly slang made it even harder for me to ascertain the meaning of some of the lines. As such, I apologize for any inaccuracies in translation and feel free to leave a comment if you notice anything wrong.
Disclaimer: I do not endorse or support Imperial Japan in any way; this video is purely for educational/historical purposes.
