I wonder how Hans Zimmer feels knowing his name will forever be up there with composers like Beethoven and Mozart.

I hate to say this as I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate but there's a girl on utube at a train station that brings more emotions to this song than an entire band did. Not that they didn't do a perfect performance it just didn't bring the emotional connection.
@starscarrednyx

The melody loses little when played by a single instrument, it remains recognizable and the player has control over the connection of emotional intent... (edit: I agree it sounds more intimate and therefor more emotionally connected, when played by a single instrument) Where more robust and complex pieces, are not so well played on a single instrument (where more savor is lost if compartmentalized into one or two instruments) and they, of course, sound better when played in symphony or orchestra. I'd have liked the speaker at the end to have allowed more silence for after (where many people are still internally capturing their experience of piece).

I'm not sure how you are grading this like it is 1 player. It is extremely more difficult to maintain correct tempo with a big group and to play it all flawlessly there are so many variables. There is a specific way that something needs to be played. Though you may find it more appealing it does not mean there is more emotion. Not to mention this is infront of an entire stadium. Like the amount of work that went into this vs a girl in a tube station.
@starscarrednyx

@@carlospasos5432 I think it's a subjective thing, not that they didn't perform exquisitely. Sometimes it's easier for people to connect when the group is smaller. Such smaller ensembles will, by necessity, have less complex melodies. It's nice to hear show tunes, they carry tons of sentiment, but for a group like this I'd expect more complex music than that. I was surprised they opted for something like a show tune night, but i do know those shows sell tickets like the classics might not. It was still very lovely and of course it was well done, it's just a bit unexpected from that group. A room full of onlookers might not be the right space to have a music-moved-me type of moment... and it can be so moving from a smaller ensemble or single player, done along a venue that catches us unaware when it touches our heart in passing, unexpectedly.

What a repetitious waste of my time. I like Zimmer. Zimmer is very good, and he has a nice crescendo at 4:30-ish, but overall this sucks. Kudos to the orchestra, they did the best they could with the material that was delivered to them.
