so the or/nand gate just gets bigger with more possible outputs?
@amithnayak1520

theoretically you can do that but its not a good option(there are other problems that occur if you just keep the number of inputs to a gate)

How do u know when to use active high output or active low output
@hk32100c18
6 жыл бұрын
depends on which decoder. It just describes how boolean function put into high output/low output decoder, therefore you can use it to design the external gate.

If we were given a don't care values. Will they also be connected to the nand gate?
@amithnayak1520
7 жыл бұрын
Good question :) don't care term (X) means it can either be 0 or 1. Assume minterm (m5) as don't care term and Suppose if you connect don't care term line to the OR gate input, then assuming m5 (X) = 1 the output of the OR gate will always be 1. Similarly if you connect don't care term line to NAND gate and assume m5 (X) = 0 then the output of NAND gate is always 1. So you must not connect the don't care term to the gate because by doing that your output will not be independent of the don't care term.

How does Mo become 0 and the rest 1. And how does M4 become 0 and the rest 1
@bestyav5529

Ahmad ...he first gave 000 to the inputs lines a ,b ,c ..so in that condition only "Mo" output should be "1" and the other output "0" but due to the inverter " Mo" became "0 " and other outputs " 1".....similarly when he gave 1,0,0 to the inputs "M5" became " 0" and others are '1"

why Enable is set on 0 ?
@amithnayak1520
7 жыл бұрын
We have assumed enable to be active low signal hence it must be set to 0 for the decoder. If enable was assumed to be active high signal then it would have been set to 1.
