When you're trying to very subtly manually adjust the position of something like at 12:08, alt+middle-click on an area of the mesh (or scene) close to you, and it will temporarily move the pivot there, and you can get precise translations with it. The closer the pivot to your POV, the greater the precision.

Hello, how do you get an HDRI Backdrop to show the sky in Path Racing 5.1? All I see is black when I switch to Path Tracing.

Hi! Good to see you outside of PaB 😉 Thanks for sharing the thought. I hadn't really considered the use case with a fast moving scene ie; driving a car or an endless runner. I'll have to think on that one more, likely for those purposes devs are using dynamic sky.
@FlockersDesign

@@fracturedfantasy i was able to fix the problem by upscaling the dome and countering some artafects with some fog this is wat i did and indeed the dynamic sky may not be a bad idea kzitem.info/news/bejne/tIt7l3qea6N4nWU

The enviroment dome material (Hdri backdrop) must be edited before (translucent), or skylight will not lit the scene in UE5

Disabling "Affect Distance Field Lighting" in the dome mesh does the same.

Am I crazy or did he skip over the part where you actually import your hdri into the program. As a first time user I don't see how this helps. He skips right from a download site to using default assets already in the program. I don't get it
@fracturedfantasy

Hello, thanks for checking out the video. I get that the order might be confusing but I wanted to set you up with knowledge before importing (and you need the default asset enabled in order to use HDRI's, that's why I explained in the order I did). Anyways if you stick with it, or jump to the next bookmark (are you familiar with bookmarks on youtube? Check them out if you aren't) You will see there is a section titled "importing HDRI's into Unreal Engine 5" @ 23:15. Hope that helps!

No problem. Bookmarks are super helpful and (in my opinion) most of the best tutorials have them in their videos. You can quickly jump to the topics you're interested in. You'll find them across the timeline and again in the comments section. I'm still learning as a tutorial creator so I really do appreciate the feedback. It's hard to get the content right for everyone. Cheers.

quick question- when i load 16K HDRIs into UE5- they automatically have some kind of depth of field/blur about 6 ft from the center- How do I turn this off? Thanks!

One scenario I can think of, I show how to correct at 26:30. Otherwise it’s tough for me to speculate what could be wrong.

Thankyou for this! Question: I was trying to make a copy of the HDRI backdrop without lighting settings, deleted the construction script, and now every single copy of the backdrop is messed up. Is there a way to fix this? I tried disabling and re-enabling the plugin but it didn't work. It's still missing the script :(

Probabaly the easiest way is to rebuild the construction script. Can you try in a new project?

@@fracturedfantasy I couldnt find any references to the script online, but luckily had another version of UE4 downloaded so I deleted the broken HDRI Backdrop file, and copied the file from the other version into my current version and it worked 👍

Hi and thanks for the run down about the HDRs, Iam wondering if you know how to make the HDR invisible in the viewport yet still receive the light/reflection information. So essentially I want it affecting the scene but I don't want to see it if that makes sense. I wasn't successful finding much info on that apart from some weird trickery here and there.
@SergeWorks
2 жыл бұрын
Just a follow up, I think I found my answer by using just a skylight instead of HDRIbackdrop, since it was using the same hdri image gave me same look without being visible in the viewport.
@fracturedfantasy

@SergeWorks You could also try clicking on the geometry portion of the HDRI and select the options "visible in scene capture only & hidden in scene capture".
@SergeWorks

@@fracturedfantasy hey thanks for getting back to me, I found the option but unfortunately it acts as if I have hidden it, removing all lighting information but that is okay since skylight is giving me what I need. Thank you.
