I had a recon 1 tanto in cts-xhp with the box from an aus8a version and it had the same problem with the sticker. I think cold steel just refurbished old stocks of boxes by sticking a stocker with the new product codes. Kinda funny, but I didn't mind :D

So so sweet, upgrading to all the new steels they are putting out. Maybe its just me, but the bd1 always seems to finish out sharper than aus8 after polishing the edge. Might be my imagination.

Any updates? Is the stone washed knife BD1? I have the same knife and box with the stickers on the box. I bought it at a flea market so I'm hoping it's old stock of bd1 and not a scam.

You can tell by the pin placement for the lock. It's been awhile, but there is a difference.

I bought mine 3 years ago..who knows what steel it is? Thanks for the heads up brother. I was on Alibaba a few years ago and notice Cold Steel AD-15 for $20 as a big quantity purchase. I was shocked! I contacted Cold Steel and they probably knew these knock offs were flooding the market. I bet that is why Lynn Thompson sold out.

So theres rajah-3s in AUS-8A, BD-1 and AUS-10A ? Im actually confused as to what i have. I got mine in 2017 i think and it has the blade stamps read with the blade tip up, RAJAH 3 and Cold Steel Taiwan. No steel identification. Its a stone washed finished blade and the lock bar has the pivot pin very close to the relief cutout, perhaps 1/8" from it as opposed to the one on the right in this video that has the lock bar pivot considerably further away. I dont recall what the box said, its in storage. Any idea as to what i have? The steel performs about like AUS-8A in my estimation. It takes a blistering sharp edge and holds it reasonably well but does tend to roll easily. Absolutely awesome knife though! Buttery smooth opening and action, up there with the best in my collection and rock solid lockup. Fantastic ergonomics and MAN! what a cool looking knife! The only negative is the stupid sharpening choil that missed the plunge grind by oooh, about 3/16"! Wth Cold Steel? Nobody noticed that or did noone care? I fixed mine either way. Anyway, anyone know what ive got here, AUS-8A or BD-1? Thanks in advanced.

Bd1 steel doesn't cut well with a polished edge...... Toothly is DEFINITELY the way to go with BD1. I say aus8 and aus10 are better.

Amazon has caused me such stress before. I stopped buying knives over $20 from them. A lot of the big knife websites (Knife Center, BladeHQ, etc.) have loyalty programs, and I trust them a bit more. Only downside is the sloooooow shipping. Ah well, trying to be patient hasn’t killed me yet!

It is super bad! It is one of those knives that is hard to put down. It made me want to line up traitorous briskets and execute them for crimes against the crown.
