Growing up in southwest Louisiana we heard many of these. Lache pas la patate, don’t give up. If you were outside on Friday night you could hear from the racetrack loudspeaker, ils sont partis, and they’re off, when the horses left the gate. And when we got in the car with my grandfather, as we are leaving, he would say, allons, let’s go. ⚜️

Hi, You mentioned to not use "Allons y" for "let's go", but what about "on y va"? Thanks.

Merci While googling came across two more gems: chasse patate or wild goose chase and patate chaude meaning exactly the same as its english translation. Merci beaucoup
