It reminds me of his character in the pilot, "The Cage." Nimoy said they hadn't settled on Spock's logical character then, and that since Hunter was "low energy" he felt his performance needed to be more dynamic. But I like to think Spock was more relaxed among Pike's crew and became more serious or controlled after that crew disbanded, leaving Spock behind.

Excellent, superb, memorable. All the elements: Drama, action, some suspense, grief, heartbreak and then comedy. Artistic license used skillfully and masterfully. In many of the episodes of Star Trek; you are given a well written, directed and acted hour of struggle and drama used to save the galaxy. Three men, often more, use their resourcefulness, talent, courage, intelligence and futuristic technology. Terrible sacrifice is often involved, sometimes tears . . All this happens within one hour and then always ends with a successful mission completed, a joke and a happy ending . . (most of the time). Too bad the problems on this planet can't be solved the same way.

Why did they have to dismiss Christine from the room? She has worked with all of them and I am sure she was as interested in hearing all about what happened as the three men. Apparently in the future, women were still considered second-class. (And after years of working with her, McCoy still calls her "nurse" rather than Christine??)
@kevinphoenix2007
3 ай бұрын
Okay, seriously? Are you that braindead? Apparently, you never watched this episode in its entirety. Spock's Pon Farr is a deeply personal matter to him, as it is to all Vulcans. Spock was ready to disobey Kirk's order to tell him what he was going through, only relenting after Kirk assured him he would keep it strictly confidential. This means Christine remains in the dark about it beyond only knowing that Spock was experiencing a chemical imbalance within his body and a loss of emotional control. The only reason McCoy knows is because he was the one who diagnosed Spock's condition AND he and Kirk are considered Spock's closest friends. This has nothing to do with Christine being a woman and everything to do with trust that Spock's Pon Farr remain confidential as Kirk promised him. And as a physician, McCoy is also bound to that promise. You read way too much into this. McCoy calling her "nurse" is the same as someone calling McCoy "doctor". Get over yourself, you social justice libtard!
