What really struck me in this scene is how David Harewood who plays Mr Door suffered episodes of psychosis - hearing other voices and believing in another reality etc. There's a documentary he did called Psychosis and Me where he talks about his experiences. Anyway it is super apt that he was chosen for this role where he is able to discuss these things with Alan Wake - another really cool element of how meta this game can get.

David harewood really stepped into some big shoes filling after lance reddick, but he definitely elevates the role of Mr. door

Is it just me, or during the musical number, the quick shot of Alan's face when he seems to be lip syncing the "Ahhhhhh" note - that's the picture Alice took, the one that showed up in Control, and initially resembled/seemed to capture a psychopath slasher in motion... Seems to me it actually captured an artist who needed to physically incorporate performance into his work to manifest a tangible quality beyond words on a page, in order to make his "story" real. Additionally, if it is tied to that photograph - and speaking as a musician who knows the balance/difference between manifesting, then processing/changing potent emotion into an "inspired" performance, and, choosing to just feel a certain way while playing (which leads to distraction, mistakes, etc...) - I'd guess that it was this, uh, collective moment, with Alice helping highlight that art is NOT feeling, it is a representation of feeling/of "internal" reality, that the "feeling" is only REAL in your mind, that it is only real externally if you choose to force your internal feeling into being on the world around you... That this is the moment where both seperation and integration meet, and Alan truly chooses the light as the correct, and only ending for his story (a story that would otherwise destroy OUR reality). Music... The true language of emotion since time immemorial... 🙂

Just a tiny detail, when Mr. Door asks if all of us is part of Alans story, there is a low bass, static effect fading in, building the tension after what he just said at 3:26. And then in that one moment of silence, it is the loudest as if something dark would just reveal itself right there. Such a tiny but effective detail. Man I love this game!! 😂

There's the theme of trilogy in both games, there's departure then initiation and return. Initiation is exactly the description of this very game.

Dude, this is actually the most meta thing ever Door is the player, Alan is the writer. Door is merely a fan askin what's up with the story. This is insanely smart writing.

This is a live action video or a cutscene made in the game engine? (Damn guys, i'm not saying that the in game graphics quality is similar or indistinguishable comparing to this clip, i just wanted to know if this was a pre rendered cutscene or a live action video lol)

@@soupl347I mean, yeah, alright, it is easy to tell the difference - but graphics in Alan Wake 2 are superb, and live action cutscenes do not look out of place in the game - they work together for better immersion. So it's both a testament of how graphics improved in the last years and to the skills of Remedy developers, who can create something so captivating.
