I purchased the KBEAR Lark IEMs based on this video - intended use on-camera audio monitoring, NOT music listening. I am unsure if my expectations were too high or if the ones I received are defective. Loads of glowing reviews but the sound I hear is very thin and tinny with no body or warmth - far worse than any wired iPhone headphones I’ve ever owned. I realize the price is low, but with all the lengthy positive audiophile type reviews I was expecting far more. If I’m missing something I’d appreciate learning more. I do really like the KBEAR Rhyme cable - nice weight and drape.

Perfect timing. Starting to get my gear together. Back in my TV days they sent us to a local hearing aid place to get our ears custom fit for our IFBs. They inject gooey stuff into your ear and let it harden so they can make the custom mold. Not sure what that cost! I am sure any of these will be great for streaming/recording. Thanx Doc!

Just bought a pair and I think they sound thin, shrill, and cheap. Any chance you may be able to rate the sound quality of spoken word relative to a pair of standard wired Apple earbuds? Perhaps I was expecting far too much.

I have to MEE M6s and used to add on an extension to make up for the short cable length. Now the RCP is actually closer to my right hand, the native cord length isn’t a problem. I do find they pop out of my ears though, maybe I should look at spin tips?

Thanks so much... I wonder about the delay I’m hearing when I have headphones/in ear monitors when I’m speaking and teaching on zoom though ECamm. Is there a setting you would suggest?
@DocRock
3 жыл бұрын
headphones cannot fix that, listen to your mix in your interface direct. it's called direct monitoring. Also turn off audio monitor on the Ecamm app. you can only listen to one or the other

@@DocRock thank you. I’ll give it a try...I think because I’m not using anything but ECamm I assumed the Audio monitor on the app was the best choice, thanks again.

The cords tend to be a bit short. If you were to have them running behind your back, if would have to be over 2 metres. I checked on amazon but cannot find one longer than 1.25m so far. Is there anything that you've come up with for this?

Probably a dumb question: Can you hear your self with these monitors? I ask because I've been using air pods and I cannot hear myself in my microphone. I can hear others, but not me.
@DocRock

You can if you are listening to your interface. Most interfaces don't have a way to listen to BT headphones/earbuds. I plug these directly into my Rodecaster Pro II or into my USB mic when on the road.
@marklduncan

@@DocRock Thanks! I did plug my regular Apple headphones into my USB mic and still couldn't hear myself. Perhaps that's an Apple issue or because there's a mic built in? In any event, I plan on ordering the K BEAR Larks. I can plug those into my USB mic and hopefully I will hear myself. Thanks for your response!

Doc just found this video. Great content. 2 Questions. (1) ungraded cable 3.5mm or 4mm? (2) When plugging them into the RCP2, do you use the headphone port or monitor port (if monitor port both or naw)?

Doc, the 8-core cable that you have linked in your notes isn't the proper fit for the earbuds that you have listed. I ordered the KB Ear and the 8 core cable that you have linked and they are not compatible.
