Kelly nails these every time, I love her! I challenge you to look up here on You Tube any 1940's flick, and listen closely to the way the women talked. The way they walked, and their mannerisms. She just friggin nails them perfectly in every one of these sketches!

I was puzzled how they did the effect. I thought maybe Chroma-Key on two sets, but they're obviously together on one set. So, I looked it up. They did use Chroma-Key, but in a different way. Kelly had to be all one color, including her face & skin. That color, probably green, could not be in anything else on the set. The Chroma Key was used to define her color differently from the scene, and replace it with B&W and that flickery, scratchy old-film overlay loop. It's why her eyes were her real color and not B&W. They'd have had to give her green contacts. If anything else on the set had been green, it, too would look B&W and scratchy. Chroma-Key is the same device that's used to make a weather map appear behind the weather forecaster on TV, except in that case, the background behind the person is all green, and the green is replaced with the map, using the machine's electronics. It's also how they made it look like Anderson Cooper was really on the scene in Sandy Hook. Some errors in how they set it up gave away the effect.

Cool effect. How they do it
@KutWrite
6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty easy now, with digital effects: They can define a character or object to the digital effects box and it will keep whatever processing you set, no matter where it moves. That's how they keep, say, Barbara Walters in soft focus at all times. I'm not sure how they did it then. They are obviously in the same picture, not her alone in front of a green screen, which was my first thought. Ahhh... I just looked it up. If anything else on the set had that color, it, too would look B&W and scratchy. Chroma-Key is the same thing that's used to make a weather map appear behind the weather forecaster on TV, except in that case, the background behind the person is all green, and the green is replaced with the map using the machine's electronics. It's also how they made it look like Anderson Cooper was really on the scene in Sandy Hook. Some errors in how they set it up gave away the effect.
