This is it, the last goodbye from me to the man who I first met in 2014 in not a very good time of my life it's fair to say but he came along and helped immensely. You know, what can you say that I havn't already said but again it's surreal. It feels like yesterday I first met him, now it's 7 years later and things are drastically different. I wish I could say more people went through life like you did Nick especially now, we could do with a bit more sense of community. It was said in the Olympic Nick documentary by someone 'oh we don't even want to think about what Footscray would look like without Nick because he's a part of Footscray'. Perhaps that's never been more true than right now. I hope I can look back on the 10th anniversary of Nick leaving Footscray for the last time (April 2026) and say, you know, Nick left his beloved Footscray a better place than it was when he came to it. That couldn't be more fitting. On behalf of the whole western suburbs of Melbourne, everyone on this page and myself, Nick I want to thank you. Thank you for uniting a divided community, thank you for your personality, your carefree attitude, your generosity and your spirit. Thank you for 40 years of amazing doughnuts, laughs, smiles, chats and memories, and thank you for impacting more people than you ever knew in a positive way, myself included. I am grateful I decided to make my way over the bridge one day in 2014 and become a customer of Nicks, and I feel so grateful and lucky that I got to go back one last time in March 2016 just before he closed for the final time. I hope you were somehow listening to everyone talk about you today, and I hope you know that you impacted the lives of MANY people in a positive way and that, as a result of that, your legacy will forever live on. And I hope your legacy will be used as inspiration to ensure that Footscray gets better and grows as time goes on, which is just what Nick would have wanted. And, finally, I hope he looks down and smiles when he sees that. Rest in Peace Nick, hopefully we'll meet again someday.
