What an amazing experience! All of the history you got to be a part of….. Very cool how they honored the old timers and let Bigfoot watch! Awesome vid. :)

I know it would never happen but it would be cool if my Tigers played a game at old Tiger stadium site,it's been fixed up as a really nice little league field.there's not much room for seating and apartments and businesses built into the complex so i don't see possibilty of it happening but it would be super cool to watch for me having gone to over 700 games at that spot.

Now THIS is how you do a tribute game. HI DAD!!! Must have felt so crammed out in right field… FREE STUFF?? I LOVE FREE! That begging is the weirdest I’ve ever seen. Feel bad for whoever got toss ups over there 😅 I need a bus like that. Three words. NEEDED. A. COMMEMORATIVE. Goodnight goodnight!

What a tribute to Willie. Dad! Yeah, outdoor baseball in the climate-change Deep South is sweaty baseball weather. Excellent jukebox. That bus. Wow. Great tunes in the background, too. DEER PARK! Excellent 💧. Nice catch, dude. Willie’s tribute haunted that night. Dude…do better counting your baseballs! 🤣 There were so many powerful, meaningful ghosts of a past in our country that - if we’re not careful - we could slip into again. But if we actively grow in being vigilant, just and love-centered, we will never let the wrongs of the past happen again.

That last part... perfectly said. Seeing Birmingham and the area that park is in, we have a long way to go still. Hearing Reggie Jackson's powerful interview later was also a very real reminder that these things weren't "way back" in history, they happened to people who can tell the stories first hand. Growth is never linear, but it's our job to put a stop to the times when it starts to dip.

Tony cool fact about Rickwood Field for me being a Tigers diehard fan,Tigers used that field for their double A team 1957-1961 + 1981-1985,One of the Tigers minor leaguers was Bob Melvin who played a bit with Tigers and was at this tribute game as Giants manager.

Not sure about you Tony but games like this are the actual field of dreams in my book.not the gimmick games in Iowa.i hope they stick to these type of events.loved your commentary you spoke words i was feeling and couldn't say myself.

@@GeraldBacon-si5mx thank you. I’d love to have MLB highlight more of these historic fields before they are lost. And to also give even more of an in-depth look at the Negro League players. The ones that remain don’t have long. We need to capture their stories and make sure we learn from that horribly divisive past.

@@GeraldBacon-si5mx I had been in Alabama years back for all of 5 minutes (drive across the border just to cross it off). Then I returned a couple years back and went to Mobile. But this was the first time in Birmingham.

@@BaseballRoadTripper Another cool fact even before rickwood was renovated for the mlb game the double a team now a white sox minors affiliate return there to play one game per year. Not sure if you have but i recommend you research pictures of rickwood before renovations it was even a bit cooler like original dugouts.i know they had to bring stadium up to mlb standards but they did take a small bit of the charm away to do so.When old yankees stadium was renovated it wasn't the same as before.thankfully they didn't mess with the old park too much.personally i would of liked to go to rickwood before renovations.

@@GeraldBacon-si5mx I hope that’s the case. And I hope that he ones that couldn’t be there can live though these videos and stories. It might be a small, niche community, but it’s a community that is there with me nonetheless. It’s not lost on me how special these moments/games are; which is partly why I forget to film a bunch. But I cannot wait for the next wild place, even if it is a race track in the corner of Tennessee.
