I was 12 yrs old when Elvis died , he and Evel Knievel were my hero’s ironically they both wore leather jump suits. Seemed like super hero’s to me in a way. Great film here thanks for posting.

This is very well done. Organized, chronological, historical. Elvis was a wonderful son. I had no idea his father was an alcoholic, who was irresponsible. No wonder Elvis’s mom was so protective of him. She had a lot on her plate. Jimmy added a lot of really informative details about the Presley’s unstable home life and the constant moving. Elvis’s mom worked really hard to keep her son on the straight and narrow. It is even more clear why Elvis loved, respected, and was so protective of her.

This video appears to be about 25 years old. Needless to say, if you think a lot had changed about Memphis then, you can imagine what the next 25 years brought. I remember swimming in Clearpool in the ‘60’s. There are two iconic places I wish still existed as they were, and that’s STAX and American Sound Studios. The combined music that came out of those two places still blows my mind.

Dang, this video is old!! Cicah-hhdoes?? Its Sih-kay-das in the south. There's an interstate that roars thru there now. And, like every other town, Tupelo has now built all kinds of shops, stores, hotels, restaurants by the interstate. This is the old downtown. But its still fun to visit and walk around and get ice cream. These scenes make Tupelo look depressing, but its not. And the one mile from the interstate to the Presley home has really come a long way. The EPB has really built up too. It has a walking trail, an outdoor music venue, and other buildings moved in and restored. This film must be from the early to mid 90s? You can travel up hwy 45 thru Corinth, to Shiloh Milt Park, and also the Buford Pusser home and Museum. On another note, I used to go to a Freewill Baptist church ( Alabama) and our pastor's name was Elvis. Elvis and his wife lived on the lake, and across the slough, also at the time, lived a famous young man by the name of Hank Williams, Jr.
