People don’t understand that this country is filled with bubbles of all white communities that would erase black history altogether if it isn’t required in the curriculum. That was so disgusting to watch. You don't treat people like that. That hurt to watch. On top of the spiteful stuff, Justin Timberlake was doing on stage with those goonies. Ugh so petty and underhanded. More so since Janet Jackson was the one that had to do a whole apology for something she didn't do! She didn't forcefully rip that off on stage. When that moment happened I was so baffled by it due to how Justin didn't even try to help or save her. Just distanced himself from her like she was a complete stranger. Then they dig up a formula from past, dust it off and put it out as something new and/or original. Of course it sells. Then they are annointed as the NEW, LEGENDARY soul artist. The name Janet means "God's Grace or God is Gracious" and Ms. Jackson has shown that throughout her career. I appreciate her class and how she keeps it moving despite what is thrown in her path.

As for Justin Timberlake: He's a selfish artist that's all about himself & securing his legacy. He was nowhere to be found in the Lou Pearlman documentary. I had no idea he dissed both Janet & Prince in a song. I thought the Prince beef was because he did that tribute for him & folks didn't like the performance.

No need to make this a Black men/Black women divide, as Black women were supporting Justin Timberlake all the same. You literally saw a clip of Tyler Perry defending her. We as Black people needed to support Janet Jackson and be critical of Justin Timberlake and the media all the same.

I never got into Justin, and always thought it shady Timberland decided to leave Ginuwine hanging to give his best beats to the culture vulture. That news clip was evil. Not a Tyler Perry fan, but I will give him credit for trying to shield Janet during that segment. It really wasn't that serious. It was a titty. wow, didn't hear about the kid shot from the prank. reminds me of a b film I just watched. friends play a game where someone pretends to kill each of them, but then one of the friends takes it too far and really starts killing them. lol. folks better stop playing with folk.

You're not accountable or responsible for his actions or any West African, nobody has the right to hold you to be. Please don't feel embarassed or apologise, if it comes up in conversation and people ask you your opinion respectfully. Let them know (if you want to), that he speaks for himself and himself only. You don't subscribe to that (as you're...pro black/panafrican/black national/etc?). You don't appreciate being treated as if Africans are a monolith, we're not and it's wilfully ignorant to act as such. I'm African btw, Ugandan diaspora in London. I first heard the term monolith on social media by African Americans condemning it in regards to blackness (political pandering/kneeling etc). I don't get how anyone can argue against it while simultaneously treating Africans that exact same way and blame us as a collective for continuing the divide? Anddd want an apology from past mistreatment too? 🤨 Africans who have treated you wrong didn't do that on my behalf, they're accountable for themselves only! I resent that rhetoric and see it as willful ignorant and deliberately devisive. Don't blame me for something another inflicted upon you as if I condone that behaviour, or as if every living breathing African does also. Diaspora or continental. I have the same opinion if the roles are reversed, every African American doesn't have the same attitude or behaviour towards Africans. That's ridiculous to say and intellectualy dishonest. Treat eachother with respect, thats it. I treat kinfolk like kinfolk until they show me otherwise. Regardless of which nation they reside in or are from. Strength of character is Paramount (integrity/morals/self accountability/self love), if its not there with kinfolk or anyone frankly then don't associate with that person. No need to perpetuate lies that everyone from where they're from is like that. Goodness.
