Ina May is the woman I most admire in the world. Ina May taught me my most valuable lessons as a woman. My first three babies were born on the Farm and I will remain eternally grateful to Ina May and all the Farm Midwives for connecting me to my power as a woman and Mother. I cry tears of gratitude every time I see Ina Mays face and hear her voice. I love you Ina May!

Over 30 years ago I was blessed to find the book Spiritual Midwifery when I was pregnant with my 1st daughter. I devoured every birth story and determined to have a "juicy" birth without fear! I found a midwife and birthing center in my area and had a wonderful birth experience. Thank-you, Ina May, thank-you!

She is so important. Her book, Spiritual Midwifery led me to an absolute paradigm shift regarding not just birth but myself as a woman.

I ❤️ Ina May. Her books and knowledge taught and inspired me to honor birth and experience a beautiful natural unmedicated birth myself. Thank you from the bottom of my womb 😄

I am a new family medicine doctor and this framework is what I've been looking for when it comes to learning how to be the best coach and assistant to a mother during her labor (she is of course the one putting in the work!) There are some amazing doctors out there, but unfortunately some approach childbirth from the mindset of a surgeon, with the best intentions of course because that is how some institutions train and certainly when it is necessary surgery can save mom and/or baby's life, but during standard uncomplicated labor this approach makes more sense intuitively

I may gaskin and I were both in the birthing world at the same time my first child was born in 1973 and I had my baby at home. I had delivered a couple of babies before that and didn’t know much about ina May but her and I were on the same paths. I’ve been a midwife ever since those days delivered lots and lots of babies mostly 100% at home and 1991 I started doing underwater births after attending a conference in England. We all love her and I certainly have loved all the beautiful mothers who have trusted me in allowing them to deliver their babies in a natural manner I’ve done twins breaches vbacs. There is a wonderful wonderful living breathing essence that emerges in the birthing cloud where many things are manifested given great amounts of power and women and families and men grow bond heal and learn. Thank God for homebirth thank God for Wharton’s jelly thank God for the natural birthing environment. Birth is a natural process it always is and it always will be.

A legend! When I had my baby I was bonded with my then husband before I conceived, but my home birth freaked him out because I was so open and in sync with nature. It scared him away and he never came back to the table in a bonded, loving way. I lost him forever. It is good to know that for some couples it can actually bring them closer together. There is nothing more hurtful than being that open and getting rejected.

So sorry to hear this. I'm trying to "fight" for my home birth, but perhaps it's not worth the fight.

Giving birth on your own terms is so worth it. For yourself and your child. You are at your most open and raw when you are giving birth. Someone who is not ready to accept you that way, is someone who is not secure within themselves and who is not ready to love.

Gloria Chan yes it is I had some issue with my husband who was fearful but by the end this result was not what happened. Just because someone else doesn’t like it does not mean you shouldn’t have control of your body.

I'm sorry this happened. Sadly, some men just can't handle a woman's strength. But, I hope you know this was his trip, not yours. I know it didn't make it hurt any less but I hope that you have been able to move forward knowing you are a powerful woman.

@@chatgpt4135 from what I've read, they have a standing arrangement with a local hospital in case of emergencies. edit: you can look at their website to see what kind of services they provide during pregnancy

Grieve the loss, go through the various stages of grief...and then forgive yourself and the other person. (Forgiveness is just setting YOU free from whatever you feel they owe you, which they'll likely NEVER be able to give you...it does NOT mean that you have to be buddies with that person, or that what they did was ok. It is simply setting yourself free from that person.)
