He and the others did what is expected. Will always remember, taking a break from work. Several of us, went upstairs, to the only TV in the office. Sat there mesmerized. Chasing the tears away. Sure could use him now days. He was a man with a vision and really did help out. Am so glad that I finally found this.

I agree with you. I come from the middle east, and when I see Obama's leadership, I put his mistakes and pitfalls aside. As a human being and an individual, he is genuine, clean and comes right from the roots of the society. His leadership is among the finest and you are lucky to have him for another 4 years

This video makes me more than a little proud- a very meaningful speech. Without fail I watch political videos online and have to read the meaningless assertions/accusations that people who have never seen one another launch at one another in the video comment section. Even small actions such as these do us no favors as a functioning, unified people, and I hope that we can at least try to get past our own differences so that we don't impede the rights of others of equal value. I'm hopeful.

I don't think that is the best reason to vote for a President. I support my rights too, but of all the things that matter, this issue is not the most important. It will be nice to have rights in a country that doesn't exist if it keeps falling apart like it is now.

I hate to say it, but you couldn't be more wrong. If the things you mentioned in your post really matter to you, take the time to do a little research - it doesn't take long to simply scan articles and/or policies, but be open to all perspectives - there is a lot of bias out there, but you'll find the truth if you look.

-voted for it (some thought that title 2 and 7 of that bill were unconstituional). 2. It doesn't take away from the fact that they voted for abolition, anti-lynching laws, the 14th, and 15th Amendments, the Civil Rights Acts of 1875, 1957, 1960, and 1964, and let's not forget about women's right to vote! Dems, largely, fought against passage of EACH! Today's Repub still favors those rights regardless of leftist dogma which claims otherwise.

His speech to me demonstrates the wide divide between most Americans regarding the purpose of government. While he denies it, the President sees government as being all things for all people. He talked about subjects which have no dispute-eliminate poverty, retain Medicare and Social Security, equal rights. To this extent his speech was rhetoric. In my mind this President needs to get his hands dirty and fight for what is right and needed. Citizens can only do so much. Stop the speeches!

No matter how much we try to move forward as a more civilized there is always that one group of ignorant and uneducated citizens who try to delay our country from the improvement that is needed. We may be of different races and religion but there is av reason why we are called the United States. We as a country are certainly not living up to our title. I am thankful to having a president whom is willing to embrace the past and work on the future

Why can't people debate issues instead of attending character assassination. Personally, I believe Reagan and Bush are just as patriotic and love America just as much as Clinton and Obama. I think Bush Sr. might be the most ethical and admirable president in my 47 years. I still strongly prefer the policies of Clinton and Obama but can acknowledge that in hindsight many Bush and Reagan policies turned out much better than I expected at the time. Hate fueled extremism on either side is bad.
