The ongoing construction of the Isiolo County Stadium has come under scrutiny following public outcry over the reported costs associated with the project. Allegations have surfaced claiming that Ksh. 900 million has been spent on the stadium's construction. However, the County Government of Isiolo has refuted these claims.
According to Diba Abduba, the County Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, and Talent, the stadium has only incurred costs of Ksh. 231 million so far.
The project, initially scheduled for completion in 2020, has faced significant delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an ongoing investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The delays and the controversy surrounding the expenditure have fueled public frustration, as the stadium remains unfinished despite the substantial funds already allocated.
