Just want to say, I'm planning a trip to Germany next year and you guys' videos have been the most useful thing that could possibly exist. Definitely making me realize that two weeks isn't enough time to see half the stuff I want to see, now, hah. Thank you!

Love it. Some new places for us to look for when we finally get back to Munich. What I love about German desserts compared to American desserts is that they aren't over the top sweet to the point where I feel like I'm immediately going to become a diabetic. They tend to have a much better balance in my experience. (Side note, the Viktualienmarkt in Munich was our first beer garden experience so it holds a special place in our hearts!)

I would love to go to Cafe Guglhupf. I´ve only been to Munich 6 or seven times in my life, visiting all the tourist hotspots, taking pictures of the Clock at Marienplatz and in the end we always found ourselves at Mcdonalds or the Augustiner "Beer Hall". Cafe Guglhupf looks like an incredible chilled place to sit down for a moment, have some capucino, some cake and look at the photos/videos you made and plan the next steps of your "adventure tour" in the heart of the city! thank you so much for this recommendation!!!

Never heard of Café Guglhupf before, I'd lived in Munich from 2008-14 with hundreds of returns to the city ever since. I'll give this place a try next SAT!!! If you guys want to taste the best coffee this city has to offer, visit Café Vits on Rumfordstraße near Isartor. Several coffee variants from multiple countries are offered there, the beans are roasted inhouse - you're also able to buy your coffee there, either ground or in whole beans to prepare at your home. Kuchen is great there as well - but don't go there on a SUN!! It's a place in which you'll only meet locals! Get at least a Cappuccino or a Latte Machiato there.....

@@NearFromHome "Zwetschgenröster" or "Zwetschgenkompott" (plum sauce (less sugar than jam!) with plum pieces) is the Austrian original side dish to Kaiserschmarrn. Next best would be "Apfelkompott". Vanilla sauce with your Kaiserschmarrn is definatally not Austrian (as you said in the video). Best wishes from Vienna!

I miss the various German cakes when I lived in Munich and Hamburg 1999-2001. It wasn't too sweet and very delicious. Bienenstich, Schwarzwaldertorte, Schwetzgenbleichenkuchen (the best is at Petit Café, Hamburg) and so many more. Also German breads and rolls are the best in the world!

Great places to go! I've never been to Café Guglhupf. But I love Café Frischhut! In my opinion, they have the best Schmalznudel/Auszogne in all of the city. We call it in here also Auszogne (undressed) since the Bäuerinnen used to stretch the dough above their knees to form the thick part around and the transparent part in the middle. In other Regions of Bavaria, they call it Knieküchle (little knee cake). But no! Don't worry! They don't do this nowadays at all. 😄

ok pro tip for eating a berliner (the one with jam in the middle). first bite with the fried sides on top and bottom, if you allready reached the jam with the first one, you turn the berliner 90° that the fried sides are right and left (I used to bite now into the lower part of the berliner at this point, it's easier to handle while seeing where it could touch my face while biting). the jam hole will not be squeezed cause your teeth will bite into the jam and "open" up the hole when you do your second bite so the jam will not spit out. ( first - than | ) sry for this horrible explanation, hope you'll get it :D

Any recommendations for the best black forest cake? and best apple strudel. I understand pastry chef's in Germany have to train hard and become masters to make these deserts and that they are even regulated so they need to be prepared in a very specific way to be considered legit? I would love to try some of the "real stuff" when I am in Munich in a few weeks if you know of a place.
@KhaziirEverflight

Honestly, as a German, I personally'd recommend just go around and try for yourself, if you get the chance, so you can find what is best FOR YOU (since taste differs greatly from person to person). And do NOT go only to the touristy places, but the "homely" kind of places you mostly see locals.
