Usually those scenes happen because the tourists have overstepped their boundaries and the animals feel threatened. If you go with an experienced tour guide you will be fine and the guide will drive right next to the animals and they won't be bothered.

I think if you are first timers, rather go with a guide, they are well experienced and know how to protect you and the animals. Alot of tourists don't listen and get out the car, try feed the animals etc, it makes alot of problems for all parties involved. If people are responsible, 99% of the time it is a wonderful experience, there are amazing places to visit in South Africa, I can't say about other African countries as I have not toured for Safari but I can Imagine it is just as great. I know Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and many more have amazing wild life. Much love from South Africa, I would love to invite you over for a braai once you come to South Africa. You can get an authentic experience, not the tourist targetted one. As we say here Dop n Chop

It's really not that scary..you will love it and will want to go back for more, just like us. Elephants only get angry when they are in musk, when they have babies or if you taunt them. The guides will tell you how to stay safe.

I have worked in Kasane northern Botswana building roads, elephants walk right through the town. If you just keep still and quiet, elephants will not touch you. But do not leave doors and windows open, baboons know all about fridges.

We go to Pilanesberg when we're in Pretoria and go on a Game Drive along the set roads. Tourists love to do these drives, too, but hardly ever abide by the rules. We were there while the elephant bulls were in musth. There were huge signs at tge entrance, warning people that they were especially aggressive during this time. As we were driving, we came upon 2 cars that had stopped on the road. Bear in mind that the dirt road is narrow. Another 2 cars were coming up behind us, so we had to just wait. We realized that the cars stopped because there was a bull elephant to thr right of us, in the bush but about twenty metres from the road. People from 2 of the cars climbed out to get a closer view/pic! The elephant was clearly upset with them...waving his ears out, lifting his head and trunk, stomping his front foot...but these men and women were not seeing the signs. The rest of the cars were trying to tell them to get back in their cars but they were truly unfazed. My BIL saw a Rhino starting to come check out the commotion still a way off, but realized these ppl were in real trouble. So he shouted 'Lion!' and they finally ran to their cars. Thank goodness the elephant didn't run after them, but he gave a few more irritated head tosses stomped his foot again and then turned away. The cars started off again, and my heart climbed back down into my chest from my throat. 😂

I grew up in Africa. Elephants are gentle, magnificent and intelligent, they won't hurt you. Just don't get between a mother and calf, and don't irritate a bull elephant in must. They are large and powerful, and can move far quicker than you expect.

These videos happen when you don't respect the environment you are in...always go with experienced guides. Listen to them, pay attention to the rules. There is nothing worse than when foreigners come here and put our animals is difficult situations...the animals will not be blamed for their behavior here in Africa. Please remember that...

If you want to be 100% sure nothing will go wrong, STAY HOME . Or, obey all the rules given to you. Never never get out of the car . People do and pay no attention to the high grass to there side . There are videos of both. One showed the Leapord drag her away. Another showed a mother pulled her daughter back in ,who had her head out the window to take pics. , just in time. That lion really looked disappointed . If the kids want to go ..... well I guess you're going . Can't wait see your videos. Provided a lion doesn't grab your camera mistaking it for you head. Why not consider Gorillas in Ruwanda.

I went to the Chobe National Park in Botswana. The animals are wild, but you don't get this behaviour. It looks like these animals in the video have been allowed to get far too familiar with humans, to lose their natural fear like this. Seriously, go to Botswana - you'll see them at this sort of distance, but they won't attack unless you provoke them.
