Angelina decides for herself. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. I'm so grateful for everything she gives me. / A Swedish Viking

All of your observations and comments are exactly on point. Recognizing Angelina as a child prodigy is very accurate. Angelina kept asking her mom to go on Norways Got Talent, finally threatening to call Simon herself Her family has protected her and preserved her childhood. They turned away Disney and many others before signing with Republic Records, the biggest US label, at age 14 who agreed to allow her to finish school and continue to learn. Please continue the journey Angelina with us 🍁

I think when she looked at the trumpet player, she was making sure he was playing according to her specifications. Remember that she has always been in charge of the musical arrangement. There’s a behind the scenes video of her guiding the trumpet player on how she wanted for him to play the tune. And yes! She has perfect pitch. There’s another video, when she was around the same age, in which she’s rehearsing with a small assembled and at one point she looks at the pianist and simply said “shouldn’t this have been half a note higher?” And the only thing he could do was laugh. Unbelievable! I think people concentrate so much on her amazing voice that they don’t pay enough attention to her musical arrangement and how amazing the musicians sound. And it’s because during rehearsal, she makes sure that everyone performs at their very best. Enjoy the journey, my friend.

I bet that as a musician like that pianist you mentioned, having learned notes, how to play instruments and all that, then for someone in her age noticing a half note hitting wrong and commenting on that. Probably blew his mind out of proportion so much that as you said, he could not do anything else but laugh and appreciate the genius that She is. And from that day know when he is in the presence of raw geniuses & talent there is no point of pulling an excuse or something, just accept it and say sorry my bad xD

Hello again, WIll! Thank you very much for yet another amazing reaction to Angelina🙂 - I am beyond happy that you got back to Angelina THIS quickly. That tells me that she really caught your interest, just like I expected, or at least hoped. Angelina is currently 16 years 9 months old. I heard you say that you want to hear something newer from her, and if so, I have the PERFECT suggestion, particularly when taking your background into account : On Valentine's Day this year (Feb 8th I believe) she dropped a new rendition of "My Funny Valentine", the 1937 jazz standard that has been included in 1300+ albums and have been performed by hundreds of artists through the years. IMO this is her most beautiful performance to date. The reason why I say a NEW rendition of the song is due to the fact that she also made a rendition of it exactly 6 years earlier, at the age of 10. Both performances are ABSOLUTELY beautiful. I have made this suggestion to a lot of reactors, and quite a few have done it. My suggestion is to make a double reaction to them, as they work as a perfect example of her evolution through those 6 years. And you also get to see how Angelina sounds and looks as of RIGHT NOW. (9 months ago...😁) Angelina currently stands 6'1 (1m 85 cm) tall, and can probably take up on modelling should her voice somehow fail her (God forbid! ) Definitely no SMALL girl anymore😉 I'll give you the link to both performances here : "My Funny Valentine", Angelina age 10 : kzitem.info/news/bejne/1JBom3xqmmSYg34 "My Funny Valentine", Angelina age 16 : kzitem.info/news/bejne/pop9spapgHZyfGU Have a great weekend, my friend! Watching Angelina at the beginning & end of singing, and seeing moments when her mind wanders during long instrumental sections between verses, and watching her in interviews; I see two distinctly different & unique personas: 1) an age appropriate awareness and reaction, and 2) ‘the singer’, the phenomenal timeless prodigy vocal artist who has an absolute control and mastery of the moment. - In an interview she has said, when she sings she enters a magical world where everything is endless and happy. (At an older age with more experience, she may be learning to embody them both simultaneously or to switch between them at will while singing.)

Very insightful analysis about the fact that she is a natural. She is self taught by listening to 1000's of hours of jazz greats on YT from a toddler on. She never had a vocal coach, because her mother said they didn't want to mess with her unique style. She never sings a song the same way twice, because she sings it as she is "feeling" it in the moment. Her riffs, runs & ad libs just comes out of her mouth, off the cuff. Now at 16, she's the best I've ever heard in my 75 years.

“She’s a jazz singer.” Oh, William, you have no idea… I’ve heard many versions of this song by Angelina-each one different because, yes, Angelina is a jazz singer, playing with the melody and the timing even at 8 years old. Your journey with Angelina will turn you into an Angel, no question. It’s not just that she sings so well for a child-she just sings beautifully, uniquely across many genres. But jazz and blues are in her bones. There are so many jaw-dropping performances, but to understand how completely unique Angelina is, stay in this moment once more and watch Angelina, just turned 8, sing I’m a Fool to Want You in the style of one of her idols, Billie Holiday. Only, Angelina sings it a cappella, and she does not miss a note, and her interpretation makes you understand that you have never heard a child who lives the lyrics like Angelina. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rY6h1ICQfaGDiYY

"Everyone is astounded!" That's for sure!. Angelina has a tendency to do that. "She is extraordinary." So glad to hear that you agree. I sure think so, as do Angelina's ever-increasing group of "Angels." "She's a jazz singer." Oh, my! Yes, she is. Her grandmother, so it's said, fed her steady diet of standards and look what happened. One in a billion. So happy to see that you returned so quickly for more Angelina. It's always such a pleasure to see a knowledgeable pro like you reacting to Angelina. That C#5 always gets me; first because it's so darned beautiful and second because I've never heard anyone else sing that little segment the same way she did (and I've heard oodles of versions of "Summertime"). I totally agree with you that so much of what Angelina does is innate and can't really be taught. Looks like you might be headed for some more recent Angelina ... have fun! I am really enjoying your comments and analysis since you've been reacting to Angelina. Your appreciation of her is written on your face! I'm looking forward to your venture down this rabbit hole from which you may never escape. FYI, Angelina's Official KZitem channel just exceeded 750,000 subscribers, and the goal is to grow further and gain even more exposure! Reaction channels typically have similar goals, and if more viewers understood the importance of subscribing to both artists' AND reactor channels, they would do so, and help the cause. An increasing number of reaction channels are realizing this and are now educating their viewers on KZitem analytics, while providing appropriate links in their description. All reactors should encourage fans to WATCH the artist's original video to the end, and to LIKE, SHARE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE to artists' and reactor channels. This boosts BOTH algorithms, and the reaction channel, artist, and fans ALL win! In addition to subscribing, I also suggest that your viewers watch your playlist of previous reactions. Peace and love.

We Angelina angels are proud to have started a movement in the music reaction world on KZitem. When I first began watching music reaction videos, very few reactors encouraged their viewers to support the artist. Thankfully hundreds of music reaction channels are now implementing the suggestions Ron provided. Most viewers have no idea of the importance of watching a video in its entirety, engaging the like button and posting a comment and/or a reply to a comment. Reactors need to be educators to help their channel grow and to teach fans of an artist the FREE actions they can take to further the artists' career.

---- Please check out the following songs and how subtle changes, and in the case of My Funny Valentine big changes, occur as Angelina gets older ---- What A Difference A Day Makes: the Dinah Washington classic that she first recorded in 1959 for which she won a Grammy Award for Best Rhythm and Blues Performance. Dinah's version was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. The song is originally Spanish and written in 1934 by María Grever, a Mexican songwriter, with the title "Cuando vuelva a tu lado" ("When I Return to Your Side"). It was first recorded by Orquesta Pedro Vía in 1934. The English lyrics were also written in 1934 by Stanley Adams. The Dorsey Brothers recorded the song in 1934 and had the most success until Dinah Washington's version. - as 8-year old, sung live on TV 2 singalong show Allsang På Grensen held outdoors at Fredriksten Fortress in Halden, Norway on Thursday June 3, 2014. Video is famous because of false postings on Facebook misstating Angelina was Amy Winehouse at 10-years old. Even with posting corrections and fact-checking site Snopes debunking it, incorrectly captioned video got over 30 million Facebook views. Besides Angelina's voice, what makes this song so impressive is her timing and presentation of the song belie her age. You just cannot believe someone so young could sing like this. Additionally, when you play Angelina singing this song without showing who is singing, I have yet to find anyone who can come close to saying her age: kzitem.info/news/bejne/u4mczXd_gJZonmk - as 9-year old, sung on Singapore TV. You can hear her voice is improving. Her stage presence is also growing as she gains lots of experience performing across the globe: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1o19yG2ieoFeqYo - as 10-year old, sung on Little Big Shots UK. We now have Angelina singing the same song for three consecutive years and all sung live. Again, one can hear Angelina's voice improving from a pretty high bar that she had set when 8-years old. The strength, timbre, etc is growing as Angelina is growing, as one would have hoped for, and expected: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1aV9yYOikYyBjKQ - as 11-year old, rehearsal for 2017 concert tour. Shows that she sounds great whether in studio, live on TV, live in concert, or doing a rehearsal. Consistency: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1aik0GeObadmhWU ---- My Funny Valentine: the song is a show tune from the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical Babes in Arms. The song became a popular jazz standard and has been covered by over 600 artists and is on over 1,300 albums. Chet Baker's version of the song was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry for the song's "cultural, artistic and/or historical significance to American society and the nation’s audio legacy" - as 10-year old, Angelina sings the Ella Fitzgerald lyrical version with an extra stanza at the beginning that many other people leave out including the version by Chet Baker: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1JBom3xqmmSYg34 - as 16-year old, sings in a music video that was shot at antique store in LA and directed by Angelina. Growth and maturity of her voice and techniques is seen as six year difference between the versions show. Her skills are way beyond her age. Angelina sings the Frank Sinatra lyrical version in a sultry, jazz style: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pop9spapgHZyfGU ---- Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down): the song was written in 1966 by Sonny Bony and recorded by his then wife, Cher. It became Cher's first million selling single. In 1987, Cher recorded a rock version of the song that had backing vocals by Jon Bon Jovi (who also was one of the producers), Michael Bolton, and others. In July 2014, Lady Gaga performed the song at Jazz at Lincoln Center, for the TV special Cheek to Cheek Live! that later was added as a bonus on the first collaborative jazz album Lady Gaga made with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek. Angelina sings the 1966 recorded Nancy Sinatra version of the song. This version became popular again in 2003 when Quentin Tarantino used Nancy's version in the opening credits of his film Kill Bill Volume 1. Nancy's version has been used since then including being sampled on several hip-hop recordings - as 8-year old, sung on 2014 Norway's Got Talent with just her and a electric guitarist: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qXmXqq2fqqVoipw - as 16-year old, Angelina sung the song live during her July 7th concert in the Kongsberg Jazz Festival held in Norway. The difference in voice quality is obvious between the 8-year old and 16-year old Angelina especially when she drops into her deep voice. Notice that Angelina is now at least 5' 10" in height and pretty much the same as the other members of the band (even though she is barefoot) when as an 8-year old she had to step-up onto a roughly 18" high platform so she was roughly at the same eye level as the guitarist. She IS a Jazz Singer... And YES, she IS a Prodigy... At this tender age, she knew EXACTLY what she wanted to accomplish... this, of course, is made clear, when she looks at the trumpet player. There is at least one video of her behind stage instructing the musicians on what she requests them to do. Yes perfect pitch and timing, but she's even more. She has the musical sense of a seasoned adult singer.

Angelina's first Masterpiece IMO. Beautifully surreal and even ethereal in places like the time she sings "You're dadd...y's rich." When she hits that Daddy high note she is in another realm. Her world. The world of Angelina Jordan and we are right there with her! Jordan attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program But other than the basics she did not have specific vocal training. She absorbed this all herself immersing herself in Jazz on U-Tube from the age of 3 yrs old. Her family recognized the uniqueness of her voice and abilities and did not want to mess with it. This is all Angelina. She has chosen everything she does and has had a part if not total control of the arrangements from this same age. Prodigy? Yes there is video of her at 18 months old sing a couple of lines of 'I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston into a toy mic. ♥👣👸🏻🎷

Love your reactions to her :) 'I put a spell on you' at 9, on her official channel, black and white video, that's one of the first for everyone every time. She has never again gone that wild since, which is likely good for her vocal health and growth. It's actually still one of her best despite her getting miles better and more versatile. It's actually the best version of that song ever recorded, subjective sure, but I don't think it ever won't be, the band and her were unreal. Of course, there is no wrong choice, no wrong order, 2 down over a hundred to go 😋 even though she doesn't even turn 17 til January.

AJ has been killing us softly since she was 7 years old, and now she is taking the world by storm. How does one explain her abilities? The truth is, there aren't enough words because there is no one in our past, or more than likely in our future that will affect mankind as much as she has in the short period of time, she has been alive. AJ awakens a need within us that we had long forgotten. Peace.

It's a delight to have a professional musician discover Angelina Jordan and realize what a major talent we have here among us. She did a version of Summertime with Kork, the Norwegian orchestra, about two years later. It's midsummer note-perfection. Her family are very protective and supportive of her. She's in LA now, and recording with Republic Records, who are also being protective. She's still only 16. I recommend something from her summer concerts in Norway this year. Thanks!

Angelina is a prodigy. She started singing early and loves to sing. She also has a great ear, which allows her to mimic classic singers and learn techniques from them; what my guitar teacher used to call, "giving oneself a lesson." She has so many amazing recordings, (almost) all of which feature her remarkable emotional authenticity as she tells the tale of the song. I can't wait for you to hear I Put A Spell On You. Thanks for another wonderful reaction. You mentioned perfect pitch. I truly envy your awareness relative to my own. After watching many of Angelina’s recordings, listening to a variety of vocal & performance coaches, and watching the limited number of interviews with Angelina; my impression of her is that she probably has 1) an idyllic memory for sound, allowing her to remember everything she ever heard and giving her a wealth of knowledge to access at any time; 2) an abnormally sensitive perfect pitch, allowing her to hear finest of details in other singer voices; 3) an innate internal sense of timing, allowing her to know exactly where/when she is; and 4) developed incredible dexterity of her entire vocal tract, allowing her to not only mimic the sounds of other vocalists but to also emit the emotions those performers were experiencing during the original performances, without actually experiencing the emotions herself. Her ability transcends reproducing sounds, she re-emits the emotions of other vocalists.

No one mentioned that in this performance and only one other, shortly thereafter, did she use that exaggerated vibrato. She sometimes sings the same song, but each time it comes out a little differently, according, perhaps, to her mood, or to her evolving abilities and ear. Angie won Norway's Got Talent with about 64% of the votes against ten finalists. And this was not a children's show. The only other show she has ever competed in was America's Got Talent - The Champions. There were no auditions since all the contestants had participated in or won previous ...Got Talent shows in various countries. Her arrangement and rendition of the iconic Bohemian Rhapsody, at 13 years old, is mind-bending. You will get to it.

Spot on with your analysis of prodigies and challenges they face as they mature. In your AJ journey, I think you’ll see the self awareness /criticism kick in when she’s 13-14. Makes sense. While her vocal and musical genius progresses, she regulates more the times she closes her eyes and inhabits her magic kingdom. Bittersweet to watch the loss of innocence but what we get with vocal growth and sophistication of arrangements is astonishing. I think comparing “Stay” and “Million Years Ago” to “Suspicious Minds” and “I have Nothing” best illustrates this.
