Yeah, this game was a real surprise for me. It was also my gateway from playing idles as a sort of secret shame, to openly streaming them. Yeah, dragons was brutal to upgrade. And spell tiers is a pain in the ass, at least until you get arcane brilliance. ascension 2 (at R100) was much better handled. They turned the game on it's head.

Currently playing AD for the first time and restarted playing RG after grinding gems in Ascension 3 for a while, AD so far has been much more repetitive so far but I've just barely scratched the surface I'm sure as I've only hit infinity once so far. Pre-ascension RG is definitely fun, not looking forward to the timegates though, but it WILL allow me the chance to play other games while I wait

I can understand that it is more repetitive in A1, and that these time walls are annoying. But you must admit that they tried to reduce these issues a bit. For example with giving the Arcane Brilliance Trophies a passive effect wich reduces the needed time to progress. And ofc it also is hiher on higher R's. And the main reason why they implemented them was because the late game players could have finished the new content in a few das otherwise, and I can understand that this is annoying. And now after it isn't the late game anymore the times were reduced thanks to the new trophy effect, so it was kinda like a temporary time gate for older players wich got reduced for newer players. And about the Dragon unlock: It's not the first time that there is a time gate for a faction. It actually is less annoying than the Faceless unlock since there it was just waiting 36 hours, but the dragons have 4 different tasks and then wait 12 hours, and for some of them you maybe even need these 12 hours to fulfill the requirement. And you didn't said anythign about A2, you just talked about A1 and just called it PA to it. Sure, in A2 a lot of content is still missing, but until now it kinda feels pretty fresh again. Sure, you can't already say how good it will be, but at least some side note, like in A2 they have a lot of potential do it better again wouldn't have been wrong too.

I stopped playing it before reaching A2 because I got so annoyed by the constant Dragless runs over and over again, it wasn't really an idle at that point. About that timewall thing, I didn't know they reduced spell tier times, but in my opinion you shouldn't lengthen a game with bad content just so you have more time to develop. Either balance it so that it takes more time to reach or just allow players to reach the end of the content. But still nevertheless RG will be one of my most favorite incrementals.

I just started playing Realm Grinder (currently R10) and am enjoying it. Sad to here that it runs out of new stuff after ascension. Thanks for the warning!

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of stuff after ascension and you might enjoy it nevertheless. It's just that I personally felt that it became really annoying with repetitive runs and timewalls.

@@Hevipelle I played other incremental games, and I am really enjoying the amount of choice in RG. Let's see how bad the "time walls" are. I also enjoyed incremental games that let you choose your party or some skill tree (e.g. Endless Frontiers, Tap Titans 2, Idle Heroes); and was wondering if you could recommend me some other good ones that has a lot of choice.

I just got to the "Get the egg, wait 12 hours" part. It's annoying, but I'm quite patient when it comes to incremental games (heck, I waited about 90 hours on 2 of the 12-hour timewalls), because I'm busy in real life and have other incremental games to record for my KZitem channel. It's been a journey to get this far, and I'm excited for what Dragons will bring, and a little scared about the insane complexity ahead lol.

I feel like the devs tried to touch on most, if not all of the genres and attributes of incrementals, that's why the "wait 12hours" things are in the game. While it's definitely really annoying, it gives the game more mechanics and possibilites which is the goal of RG.

Mercenaries are my absolute least favorite faction in the game, however ascension 2 gets better because it returns to that early feeling of being able to choose your playstyle while still making progress. A3 sucks again because only builds found online really work (which are also outdated as I write this) so you find yourself just loading the same old stuff over and over for reincarnations on end.

3.8 buffed a1 a lot, tiering is no longer an issue and the end of a1 is easier than before (not sweep though) so abnoxious timewalls have basically died. 8.5/10

I found the X305 researches to be the most infuriating time walls. It used to be a pure, 5 day as X Faction requirement, with no reductions. They since lowered it to 2 days, which I would argue is still too long, but can at least be planned for and spent doing things like getting artifacts or trophies. Spell tiers actually are IMO more manageable: you don't need to go to T6 at the beginning, and T2/3 are only ~2-3 days a piece. This can be grinded through, although it does feel pretty horrible. 100% agree that Dragon Faceless lasting 20+ Reincarnations was a huge mistake, and they should really add an upgrade or two to R55 or so that makes the other factions viable again so you don't need to push to R75 with them.

they are now 2 days, and even if they were 5 it is worth it for e1425 which is 5 days for all neutrals. tiering is super easy now with 3.8

no im doing fine in it i just think you need too play smarter. of course the task too the first few infinty points takes some time but you just have too figure out witch upgrades too get first and where too set autobuyers if you have them

I got bored after R25 or something, but kept slogging away, until ... the great UI change. That drove me bonkers - suddenly it was really hard to see what was what. And then it started feeling a bit like work I wasn't actually being paid to do, so I stopped volunteering to play. Then I went onto AD, and was lost there for a bit ...

Hevi, I disagree with your point about repetitiveness post-ascension. Although you don't like the dragon mechanic, and that's a fair opinion, it's anything but repetitive. Dragons unlock a new spell, new challenges, and significantly change gameplay. Ascension also has heritages which, boosts aside, are a new mechanic that require strategy to unlock and upgrade. Post-ascension mercs are also completely different than pre-ascension mercs, and finally, new content was just added for second ascension. Although I love Antimatter Dimensions, it is a far more repetitive experience with fewer mechanics than RG in my opinion.

The repetitiveness I mentioned were caused from using dragless over and over again on so many R's, then after you unlock merc research you just play dragless to the point when you can start using them and use the same build and repeat that over and over again on multiple R's, that's what causes the repetition for me. I do agree that RG is less repetitive pre-ascension than AD is from time to time though.
