Yes!!! Me too!! I was fortunate to see them play a super small venue at Atlantis down in the Bahamas. Had tickets to see them here in SLC a few days later. They had footage from that trip to Atlantis on the big screen at the concert in SLC. This was the last song they played. I all had a spiritual moment and cried and such and ended up getting a tattoo later of the fish from Morning View and kanji that says "to float" and "river."

I still wonder and everytime, how they did write, composed this work of music. Beyond its beauty. A poetry for the opened ears and minds. I think in this case the heart has its reasons, of which reason can understand 😜. I'd like to float all the way down to the river right now. Let yourself drift through. Also like a lullaby at night. Brandon is like a storyteller when he sings it. The sound of the pipa is entracing and completely mesmerizing. Wow! In a previous life, they might already have been exceptional musicians.

kzitem.info/news/bejne/kZWv1YOLcWmBpKg Mikey talks about how he was gifted that pipa (the Chinese guitar you see him playing) by Steve Vai as long as he "promises to write something cool with it". He says they pretty much immediately got to work on this song, even pulling an all-nighter. It's unclear whether it was written that same night, but I like to think that it was.

they were big into psychedelics once upon a time, so yanno that helps. side note: i saw mastodon play live at Bonnaroo in 2014 round the time of Oblivions release and the album following that release, and they literally said as soon they took the stage, weve been eating a lot of shrooms and acid lately so that why this new stuff sounds so weird. and as someone who has tripped heavily many times, and someone who plays music, I can def see how the connection with psychedelics and writing music can go hand in hand. when I hear this song I think of peacefully tripping lol, in fact almost everytime I've ever tripped I have listened to Incubus specifically and probably always will should the opportunity ever present itself again lol. I've jokingly said many times if everyone in the world could trip at least once in their life, things would be a lot better in the world lol. cheers dudes

@@mrhamburgler480 Me too brother! I may be 62 now but I'm not ashamed of my psychonaut experiences and there have been many. Strawberry Mesc, shrooms, Orange barrel, Yellow barrel, stamps of all kinds of cartoons with my favorite being Fantasia Mickey Mouse. Always appreciated music and mother nature to the fullest under the influence. I almost wonder if you can truly experience with such joy all the beauty that is out there if you won't try a psychedelic at least once. I can't imagine Dark Side of the Moon or I, Robot without the necessary ingredient that lets me appreciate all the facets of the music.

In Greek mythology, Charon or Kharon(/ˈkɛərɒn, -ən/; Greek Χάρων) is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheronthat divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person.[1] Some authors say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburied, had to wander the shores for one hundred years. In the catabasis mytheme, heroes - such as Aeneas, Dionysus, Heracles, Hermes, Odysseus, Orpheus, Pirithous, Psyche, Theseus and Sisyphus - journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the boat of Charon.

Or drift into the unknown Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river I'm building an antenna Transmissions will be sent When I am through Maybe we can meet again Further down the river And share what we both discovered Then revel in the view Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river Further down the river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river I'm floating down a river
