Thank you for reacting to my request as your honesty. As a bass player I’m a big fan of Dirk’s playing. And I knew you would dig that little bass part knowing that you’re a bass player.

Their guitarist would play some interesting chords. Not insanely technical, but he would find unique chord progressions. Was also an interesting guitarist to listen to. And their drummer is world class. My favorite drummer of the 90s/2000s.

Finally an Incubus review!! In their early days they were more hardcore, raw, and funky. You'll hear some RHCP influence too. Then they began to mellow out and became very melodic. A Crow Left Of The Murder is my favorite album by them. Mike Einziger is an excellent guitarist too. Give them a chance!

Awesome review, you're good at this stuff. Now I'd like you to review the entire Incubus discography! Jk, tho I recommend you check out "Pardon Me", "A Certain Shade of Green", "Deep Inside" and "Nice to know You". Oh, and the generic song you heard on the radio back then was definitely "Drive".

Solid review 🤙.. love Incubus. Love the random song request people have from these bands lol.. yeah, Incubus and Sublime come to mind with great DJ work within their bands... good stuff man

Interesting review. Always liked this band. I think they got written off by many in the early days because the lead singer was considered a pretty boy. Yet, they're still here. I admire that and the fact that my 22 year old loves them. That says something about the staying power and good music.

The Incubus album SCIENCE is in my top 25 all time favorite albums. It's creative, innovative, imaginative and trend setting. Side note. Big radio hits that you're talking about from them came off their third album titled Make Yourself. I believe your thinking of Stellar and Pardon Me. I was only a kid, but if I remember correctly New Skin was the only song from SCIENCE that got radio play. Very little radio play. Calling, Nebula, and Redefine are 3 must hear songs from SCIENCE.

I believe this is your first incubus review yes? Glass is a good case song to show Incubus sound, very good choice from the requester. I think this is also the best part of the morning View session that I bought long time ago. Early incubus is very funky kind of RHCP, FNM, Mr Bungle and Infectious Groove. Later on, they become less complex and create many song like Drive, megalomaniac, Anna Molly, etc... Keep more incubus coming... Note that Inkubus is a tottaly different band 😁

Same same reactions I had when I first listen to them and a lot of people I know also have same reactions. I can't find the pattern or groove to their music and its irritating. But then if you listen to their music 2nd or 3rd time or somehow their song got stuck in your mind, it will be very addictive. And their genre changed from album to album they have a very diverse music genre. I hope more people will appreciate their music.

This is a fair reaction. I’m a big fan of Incubus’ early stuff. A lot of their stuff is pretty basic but every now and then they can get somewhat technical. Very creative group of dudes though. Summer Romance is a great song to react to but since this isn’t a formal request I think you should check it out in your free time.

basic? You sure about that? They're one of the most eccentric bands from that era.
@7BlueDodger

@@stellarzoneproductions Let me clarify, when I say “basic” I’m referring to musicianship. A lot of what they play is entry level or intermediate guitar playing. I’ve been playing guitar and bass for 20 plus years and their stuff is what I started with. Eccentricity is a whole other topic. Creatively their very interesting. Especially at the time they first blew up. I think SCIENCE is probably their most creative album. And maybe Fungus Amungus in second. Third would have to be Make Yourself. I used to be a big fan and I kinda stopped following them as closely after Light Grenades came out but I still own all of their album’s. It’s a band I like to support and they still put on a fantastic show live. Very nostalgic feeling when I listen to these guys.

@@7BlueDodger Got ya, thanks for clarifying. I actually love how Mike makes people with no musical background think he's a guitar god while in reality anyone can play his stuff. I'd definitely try to impress some girl if I had a guitar with a billion pedals, but I slap the bass instead. 18yo me has been listening to Incubus for no longer than two years, but they're my favorite band. I feel Iike a lot of people slept on them because Staind, Hoobastank and Creed were somehow bigger and had a somewhat similar sound. Don't like those bands at all. Imagine if Incubus came out in the 2010's...

@@stellarzoneproductions I think at that time rap was really popular. Nu metal was big too but there were so many bands. Not sure how Incubus from the late 90’s early 2000’s would be accepted now. Idk 🤷♂️ I guess that’s why I watch these reaction videos. I like to see people react to my favorite bands and songs. Interesting to hear other people’s perspectives plus I get to live vicariously through others, it’s almost like discovering the song for the first time all over again. 😉

This song sounds better on the Album. The whole S.C.I.E.N.C.E album is 🔥. But it's not for everyone. They really became famous with their 3rd album with hits "Pardon Me" & "Drive". They were on the radio & MTV alot.

As a big big fan, it took me a while to appreciate the song. Actually gave it a second chance only when I got into guitar pedals and someone in the forums it's the only song where a ring modulator was utilized to some success. Then after that, yeah, everything came together. It was one of Dirk's more memorable riffs, it was Kilmore's best solo imo, and the lyrics brought us "you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be filthy rich by noon today."

Brandon is like Samson. He lost his power when he cut his hair. Even these early songs have lost their energy when they play them live. I've tried giving them more chances but always end up disappointed over all. I'll always have my memories.

Same here! Heard one song from them way back when. Struck me as art school stuff. Same era as Mars Volta? Good background working music...don't mind hearing it as long as I don't have to pay attention to it for very long. The DJ's instrument is other people's songs, rendered as noise. I'll give it a 6.9....7.6, eh? Like I said, you're 0.6 points kinder than me...
