🎧💭 Amy Lee of Evanescence is my "anytime" voice. And I can't remember which Incubus song you did first, however, I would recommend Drive, Wish You Were Here, Dig, Anna Molly, and my personal #1 favorite, Warning ❤😁 I'd also like to add that this is a really cool but different arrangement of this song. The video is great too. And lastly.. Brandon has aged 😏SOOO well. Definitely look him up and his beautiful art work❤

I love your critiques. I just watched your Poets of the Fall analysis before this. If you want to analyze another one of theirs, listen to "The Poet and the Muse". It is from a video game called Alan Wake(great game). In the video game, the band is called "Old Gods of Asgard" which is actually Poets of the Fall who did the music for the game. The lyrics might not make sense as it directly plays a part in the story of the game, however the song is an fantastic example of their talent.

I love Incubus and their evolution throughout their first several albums. They have a wonderful since of humor and are extremely talented and innovative! I have loved this song for decades, but never realized what a positive message the lyrics actually have. I just realized the other day that he's talking about burning and being reborn like a phoenix!

I'm always blown away by Brandon just straight killing it live along with the rest of the band ! - It's just unreal. Some of their live recordings are better than than the studio versions of their songs. I have always been a fan - a thrash/surf rock band that creates this level of complexity in almost every song ? That's actual talent.

How cool is it that Brandon Boyd can be someone's "new crush" after 30 years of performing?

I’m not sure if you have any plans for another video on Incubus, but their "Sick Sad Little World (HQ live)" video on their channel is one of my favorite smaller live performances by them. It's one of my favorite songs and has an impressive instrumental section, plus Brandon's vocals are so lovely in it. I think you'd appreciate that his mouth and tongue are a lot easier to see than the Pardon Me video and Wish You Were Here. It’s also just a bit newer than those two! Even if you don’t make a video on it, I think you'd really enjoy watching! He's a charming frontman, and the band is so incredibly talented. They're such a wonderful bunch to watch at work, and I’m so glad to see you've enjoyed them too!!

The Morning View Sessions is an outright gem when it comes to a more " intimate " live performance and the group actually shines in that environment. Warning and Circles are other good choices from this performance as well. Love watching you "nerd" out over his voice and delivery. Awesome Sauce!!

Please do an analysis on Damian Rice - The Blower’s Daughter, the song is about his wife, during recording he couldn’t get it quite right, so he sat down in front of her and sang it to her. That’s the take that is on the record and you really hear it. I think you will really like it ❤

Thanks for the reaction Elizabeth! This may have already been mentioned in the comments, but something that may blow your mind I've noticed in their live material is that in addition to Mike providing backing vocals, it looks like DJ Kilmore uses the turntables to play recorded samples of Brandon's own vocals so that they can incorporate Brandon's layered vocals from the studio versions into their live performances. Cheers!

That whole album was filled with so many amazing songs that it’s practically a greatest hits compilation in it’s original form. I would imagine that just about any guy my age who was into Incubus back in the day and bought that album can attest to, it was a solid soundtrack selection for an amorous encounter. If you and your date were into Nü-Metal back in the day, there was no better music to enhance the mood than throwing on that album and playing it from start to finish because the timbre of Mr. Boyd’s vocals were so smooth, they almost had a lubricating effect of their own with the ladies-and you can’t go wrong with a wingman like that on your side. Every Millennial female I have known, that was into rock music, has the same reaction whenever they hear that man sing, and if you aren’t putting on Incubus instead of some lame slow jams, you’re missing out. I don’t know if it’s the same for Zoomers, and I have only had limited experience with Gen X ladies, so I can’t say definitively if it’s as effective-but if she is the sort of gal who dies her hair unnatural colors and/or shops at Hot Topic (or did back in the day) then it may also yield the same desired results.

To answer your question about Chris Kilmore's turntable work...The pitch changes in the sounds a turntable makes actually comes from straight from the record a turntablist (different than a DJ) chooses. A turntablist will choose a record based on the different sounds on it, whether it be vocals or instrument sounds. They will then manipulate those sounds using a combination of the slider on their mixer and hand motions directly on the record. The sounds can also be further manipulated by the different EQ knobs on the mixer, as well as the speed of the record, but that is beyond the scope of your question. They essentially isolate a particular section of a record, mess around with how they want it play back, and then practice those motions...A LOT!!! Chris Kilmore is absolutely one of the best!!! I've been an incubus fan for almost 30 years. Never get tired of listening to them. It would be worth deep-diving into each member to realize how good they are at their particular instrument/expertise. Waitiuntil you listen to later Incubus records with Ben Kenney as bassist.
