Great video, but I find the new features quite underwhelming. Maybe my case is not the norm, but these features are things I used once every few years, not something that improves my usual workflow. I want the ability to add a baseline grid per section or master page. A decent way to customize footnotes as sidenotes, and interrupt the numbering with exceptions like *. Paragraph and character styles that can transform text to lowercase, title case and sentence case. A history and actions panel. Cross-referencing to images. These features would be a game changer for me.

I agree and want to add that another gamechanger for me would be the ability to work without an internet connection. Adobe has gone way overboard with piracy protection and now I can't even open a .pdf file in Acrobat Pro without being connected to the internet

I agree with you, Joao! This is a great video but these features are underwhelming. We should keep writing to Adobe about things they can improve on. My current headache with InDesign is the lack of Indexing features. I can't italicize a word in an index marker. I have to create a GREP style for it and it's such a runaround. I wish it was easier.

Nice overview thanks, but seems mostly useless integration of features that can be found elsewhere in a more useful guise. And changing Master to Parent seems ridiculous. A parent relationship is completely different from a master. Parent is a relationship container, master is something that spawns duplicates. Is this flowing through to video editing as well? We will no longer master a document but parent it? Oh dear, save me.

Thanks for the video - very well done. I really feel that InDesign is now the runt sibling of the CS products. The upgrades and new features over the past half dozen years have been weak (to put it mildly). They even removed the ability to create iPad & phone apps. I would love to see Ajar Productions' In5 or an Adobe created alternative integrated. InDesign haven't had any groundbreaking features for years - we deserve better for our subscription.

Have they fixed the pen tool yet? Thought not. Why not just fix the broke stuff before adding useless changes that seem to be trying pushing us into the "Adobe" workflow. That extract feature is one of the most useless "features" I have ever seen. Please Adobe, fix the broke stuff first. Who ever complained about master pages? It means master as in master key, not - I'm assuming - father. Master and Parent are not synonymous. This is demented.

@thebritisher72
2 жыл бұрын
@@JoshAmes1980 Hi. Of course it is, as it should but contextually there are no slave pages in InDesign. In this context it simply refers to the page from which other pages or elements are duplicated. The thing is, certain processes are inherently hierarchical so require language to denote that. You are always going to run up against potentially offensive terminology in this situation. Adobe has decided on "Parent". I guarantee that will offend some but you simply can't get away from the fact that the process requires a hierarchy to function correctly. Master, boss, capital, head, champion, premier. All synonyms for the top of said hierarchy and all capable of giving offence, if one chooses to take it. Thanks for listening, I'm here all week.
