Index funds are often recommended because they offer broad market exposure with lower fees. It’s a passive way to invest, which means you don’t have to constantly monitor the market.

Yeah, the idea of investing in a diversified portfolio without having to pick individual stocks is appealing. But it’s still a bit overwhelming knowing where to start.

I felt the same way at first. I started by learning about different index funds and their performance. It’s also crucial to understand your risk tolerance and investment goals before diving in.

That makes sense. I’ve been considering investing in index funds too. I’m just worried about making mistakes or not knowing the best way to allocate my investments

That’s why having a financial advisor can be so beneficial. My advisor has helped me set up a plan that aligns with my goals and risk tolerance, and he’s been guiding me through adjustments as needed.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to pay off our mortgage early. We were both still working, and took the payment amount that we had been using to pay off our mortgage faster and we put it straight into investments. We were able to retire early because of almost 7 years of putting away what would have been our mortgage payment as well as maxing out our 401K/403B plans. Thankfully we were taught by both of our parents the value of living within our means. Thank you for your advice. I know it will help people. we are interested in investments that could set me up for retirement , I mean I've heard of people that netted hundreds of thousands during these crash, I listened to someone on a podcast who earned over $650K in less than a year, what's the strategy behind such returns?

Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience.If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.

How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.

I am confused. You are speaking about buying index funds but you actually bought an ETF, isn’t that right? Can you buy actual index funds on T212? Or am I confusing index funds with mutual funds?

Hi Mitch - great video. One thing is confusing me. Do you suggest putting in an amount each month into the index fund? You mentioned you started with £400 every month. Was that consistent irrespective of the fluctuations in the share prices? Or do you ignore that and stick to the consistency. If it does well though won’t you always be buying high?
@MitchShoesmith
4 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks! I did £400 a month because that was what I could afford at the time and invested it automatically irrespective of the stock market prices. I did invest more when the market collapsed in 2020 on a couple of months to capitalise from lower market prices but generally I’d say invest what you can afford, and don’t worry about market timing ☺️

Hey, I have got a video on the channel somewhere about exactly how it’s set up! I think it’s a video called “how normal people can become rich” I made it a few months back. But yes, the way it’s set up is through a Ltd co, and is funded by my KZitem business (also Ltd co). I’m currently employed so I don’t take any money out of either business account, so hopefully I’ll be able to reinvest the money quicker ☺️

Boring ETF investing, is the best ETF investing. I’ve held mine in the S&P and an All World for years. I’ve only really just started on individual stocks as my disposable income outgrows my ISA & Pension ETF allocation. UTV 😉 My old man used to play for & manage Villa, so I didn’t have any choice in who I supported 😂 hopefully see you down VP one day !

The problem is 1.2mil in 40 years isn't as good as it sounds right now. Perhaps inflation adjusted would also be useful to see
@BaileyMxX
5 ай бұрын
In the same way whatever he's indicated as the monthly payment won't be worth as much in the future so in the future you'll be paying in monthly much more than you are today? That's why many use 6 or 7% as a realistic rate of return as it accounts for inflation and as such the final figure given would in effect be in "today's money"
@joshb7326

@@BaileyMxXYes I know, I think it's just worth explicitly mentioning an inflation adjusted amount
@BaileyMxX

@@joshb7326 just use 7% returns then. There's your inflation taken into account amount. It would be the equivalent of today's money
