Both China & India were once significant civilizations that influenced global trade...both in recent last centuries experienced imperialistic aggression and in the last few decades have begun to rise again as a global powerhouse of significant influence. Both have significant cultures that frame their societies ability to endure adversity and rise above the disadvantages that affect their development.

What exactly India exported that influenced global trade, can you name just one thing, only one thing, any? Opium produced by British colonial government was the only globally influential export commodity ever from India, is this something you are proud of? We all know China has many inventions (e.g. mass steel production, fine textile machines, printing machine, paper money, gunpowder, transocean ship technologies, arch bridges, canal, water paddy rice farming, etc.) and products (e.g, silk, chinaware, tea, paper, gunpowder, etc.) that greatly influenced the whole world, without Chinese inventions there couldn't be any industrial revolution in Europe which modernized the world. What inventions by India greatly influenced or modernized the whole world? Please study ancient history, China was the only one that had massive international trade with many parts of the world, but where was India? India has always closed itself to outside, it had almost no trade with other civilizations, only when the Indo-Europeans from Central Asia migrated to the regions now northern part of India then India got out of stone age. Indo-Europeans introduced metallurgy and other technologies to Indians. Even the Indian Classical Sanskrit language is based on Indo-European Vedic Sanskrit. Please be realistic, be truthful, don't boast or spread disinformation.

Recently someone online asked me why I hope to see India rise so much when I'm a pro-China half-Chinese. I explained that China and India are two neighbors trying to cross the same river. Any path and any ideas found by one will benefit the other, even if they are competing. By learning from each other, they can reduce each other's mistakes and pains by half. China and India share many similar challenges: a huge population to bring out of poverty, the need to modernize while preserving their traditions and cultures, and achieving all this without wrecking the planet. The fact that they have adopted different paths is that much more beneficial: China through its top-down, technology and engineering-focused approach, and India through its more bottom-up, grassroots ecological initiatives approach.

India does have the right to pursue economic development and lift its people out of poverty. Rather than focusing on blame, it's more productive for Western countries to engage in constructive dialogue and collaboration with India and other developing countries to find solutions that benefit everyone. This could involve providing financial and technological support to help developing countries transition to cleaner energy sources, sharing best practices for sustainable development, and working together to develop global agreements and initiatives to combat climate change.

Hindus do not believe in absolute evil or absolute good. They believe in people are often oscillating between the two. Poverty did shake our morals to low. Invasion of Abrahmic religions and Colonialism almost broke us, and made us lose our cultural heritage and philosophy. But now we are going back to our roots and philosophy. All thanks to Modi. In all other terms the humans are similar to animals - animals do have soul ,mind and a part of Ishvar ( hindu God) within them . That is Vedic philosophy. That said , India does have a pollution problem - just like every other country . So the problem is actually the consumption based economic models that were created in west to support capitalism . Indians are not that much capitalist , instead Indian government should try to create an alternate economic model for our businesses, so we could avoid getting in the trap that the western society faces today.

Gandhi did have the most outsized impact on India. He spent a large part of his life wearing lioncloth despite being the most powerful leaders- he decided that he will not give himself the luzury of clothes when most Indians were poor and couldn't afford to clothe themsleves. Many of his contenporaries were trying to ape the british and wearing saville row suits to show themselves as belonging to the ruling class. His example continues to this day- even if a politician is corrupt in public he will try to wear modest clothes else he will be thrown out of power.

It is blindingly obvious that we all need to work together to save the planet and really it doesn't matter who has the good ideas provided someone does. Unfortunately, as a imperial power our mindset was always "how can we extract maximum economic advantage from our colonies?" Sharing ideas and best practise requires a degree of humility and openness which I'm not sure comes naturally to us. And we are not at the helm of dollar-controlled hegemony....

We (Climate Criminals USA Europe Australia) won't pay for our mistakes, but we all clean environment with our own money. Developing country Should take care for its Public OR Pay for someone else's mistakes. 100 billion dollars were promised, no developing country got it. What i liked the most in your post, is about the point where you mentioned about over consumption..this is in relation to sustainable development or sustainability. Also, population plays a very important role, because larger population puts more pressure on the available resources. Chaina has been successful in controlling population growth. I feel India needs to do more to check the population growth.

I fully agree with your analysis. The world will have to look to China and India to cooperate on the global challenges as US will be bogged down by powerful climate change deniers Over time, it's inevitable that China and India will realize that it's ridiculous for two most populous neighbours not to synergize with each others. The pressure of supporting their huge populations and the effects of drought and flood will ensure their collaboration. But a few factors will delay that process. 1. Western media are prevalent in the Indian media space. They divide India and China capitalizing on the border disputes. 2. The ruling and media elites in India are mostly trained in the West. Many have worked overseas in the West and have children and families there too. Hence, India has an inclination towards the West that inhibit criss border cooperation with China. However over time, the pressure to engage with each other out of necessity will be felt. And when these two economies collaborate, they will make a huge difference on climate change and global prosperity.

India needs to become a full blown authoritarian state like China for any major co-operation between the two. My bet is India will side with the US more and more going forward. Somethig that gets overlooked all the time is that, cheap fast comsumption from west is actually directly forcing the local governments in the global south to keep their environmental laws complacent to polluting industries. If any local government tightens up their laws or the implementation of it, they will shift production to keep producing cheaper and threaten the job market. So this is not something the producing countries alone can control, if the buyer only flock to cheap polluting production. So if you are from the west, buy less, invest in products after really reasearching and see if the company is fully transparent about its entire supply chain; if it isn't, its probably flaunting regulations. Productiom cannot cover all bases without responsible consumerism co-operating with the effort.

If we as Indians and Chinese reduce our dependence on Rice consumption, we can cut down heavy on the carbon emissions by almost ⅓ of our total CO² emissions naturally. Millets, Fonio, Teff can be an excellent option for us. Plus, they're gluten free.

I don't think that See the problem is not carbon emission but excessive emission than consumption So we don't really need to change things that are hard to change(rice eating culture in india and china) but we should focus on things that can be changed fast like planting trees, creating emission norms, promoting renewable energy and also encourage people to use cycle or walk for short distance travel Creating new type of houses that don't need air-conditioning in summer These things are more practical and people can easily adopt

Very astute indeed. I really like how you said that the planet doesn't care about what the per capita emissions are or whether the West has polluted more in the past, so it'll "give a chance" to China and India to pollute as well, which is a silly and childish argument I hear all too often. Very well researched .Actually India always was richest country in the world until Muslim invasion and British which caused artificial famines , rural areas were destroyed due to heavy taxation.India with its sustainable , nature respecting religious beliefs sustained and practiced organic farming .....infact British copied Indore model named after city in India which was then copied by US . India throughout its history was able to sustain large population unlike anywhere in the world. They had simple living and high thinking people they discovered number system including zero, timeless knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda which is now most relevant in this age too. They had the famed textile , gemstones the mining of which ancient indians knew ......, the gold , spices , metullurgy all crafts were well developed. Philosophy , dances , drama , even games chess, ludo, playing cards , Jatakas stories , Panchatantra stories for kids of which esopes stories are off shoot. All this got destroyed when abrahamanic religion went on destroying spree of the world . In fact Christianity brought dark ages in Europe . The renaissance was revival of pagan knowledge which greeks copied from Egypt and romans copied from greeks , Arabs copied from India, Persia, Mesopotamia which all they destroyed. It is this monopolistic thinking in religion , economy and polity that’s is destroying the world . Arabs were from desert and Europe deleted their resources and looted America’s , South American forests were destroyed and timber sent to Europe . Indian forest were destroyed by British and Mughal indiscriminate hunting . The plains of India boasted forests which were cleared . There were rhinos in Punjab in ancient times but no more yet India is one of the few countries which still has large wild life in the wild .Indus Saraswati civilization was the largest in area among the ancient civilization . China and India were 2 great civilization never fought each other until recently when China became communist another western dogma when they were confusions they were not expansionist . Chinese and indians exchanges scholars , bodhidharma went from India to teach Kung fu , Chinese never used gunpowder against India but when gunpowder came in the hands of Muslims and Christians they killed innocent people , red indians .

The huge differences in the GDP bases, the Chinese GDP is more than 5 times bigger than that of the Indians'. If the India grows 10% this year and the Chinese grows at 6% like the Bloomberg estimated, the amount of the actual growth in China is way bigger than the Indians could ever dream of! Use your math telant, it's very easy to figure them out! Sporadic growth rates are not much help to be worthy of such loud-mouthed talking about some one might be jealous of the Indian grow rates! I don't know why some Indians are so easily satisfied with and proud of such little achievement ! And even started worrying about that everyone outside would have been filled with the jealousy so that their eyes turned pure green ! It's really needed to have a steady high growths of over 10 - 20 percentages of growth every year for a period of 20 to 30 years for the Indian economy to have a true meaningful great leap forward first! Then you might be able to start thinking of catching up with the Chinese GDP. But in the most Chinese peoples' minds that they are just getting started on the way back up ! There are still long way to go! It will be required all the Indian Peoples' long-term and continued hardworking in persisting and enduring manners for many many years to come ! And the foundations of the paths up will be made from the mixtures of real bloods, tears and sweats of the millions upon millions of the compatriots ! There'll be required many generations of the people of the whole country continued sacrificing their healths and even their lives in order to make the India a truly great and super powerful country in the world ! That's the hard paths the Chinese government and its peoples have been soldiering on for decades and are still ongoing ! It is time to talk peace and development between India and China. Let us propose the idea of 100-100-100, i.e. India army will be 100 miles into India side from LAC, China army will be 100 miles into China side from LAC and this status will last for 100 years. Missiles and more missiles, all for what? India and China, two of the largest and most populous nations in the world, have a complex relationship with a history of conflicts and tensions. However, it's important for both nations to strive towards friendship and cooperation, not just for their own benefit, but for the betterment of the whole world. One way to achieve this goal is by making the border between India and China disappear, symbolizing the breaking down of barriers and the start of a new era of cooperation. This can be accomplished by having the armies of both nations stationed 100 miles away from the border, creating a buffer zone for peaceful relations. Additionally, creating a thousand points of exchange between the two countries would allow for greater cultural exchange and understanding. People from both nations could visit each other, learn about each other's customs, and do whatever they wish. This would help to break down stereotypes and promote mutual respect, leading to a more peaceful world. In conclusion, a friendship between India and China has the potential to greatly benefit not only the two nations themselves, but also the entire world. By breaking down borders and promoting cultural exchange, we can work towards a more harmonious and peaceful future.
