The Vizhinjam International Seaport, situated in Kerala, marks a significant development as the premier transshipment hub in the Indian subcontinent. Scheduled for the arrival of its inaugural container vessel on October 15th, this multi-purpose seaport is strategically positioned along the Indian coastline in Kerala. Designed primarily for container transshipment, alongside handling multi-purpose and break bulk cargo, its construction commenced in December 2015 under a landlord model with a public-private partnership, with the government of Kerala spearheading the project and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone as the private partner.
