The govt collects INR 1 lakh crore in GST every month, so how is it getting re-invested towards us the people? How about we start asking for more transparency in how our taxes are actually spent? It's time we break the wheel and ask our government the right questions. As tax paying citizens, it's our fundamental civic duty to ask for oversight.

@@MrPinku9 very respectfully, while individual responsibility is paramount, our voting franchise is of no use if all the parties are corrupt. Having voted in the 2019 election, it did strike me that there is absolutely no representation of the tax paying and burden bearing middle and upper middle class people in our Government. While we do have certain civic duties and responsibilities, you cannot deny the fact that drinking water, better infrastructure, good healthcare etc are our basic rights in this country. Rights for which we are paying a LOT of taxes. So while every citizen should start being more responsible at a individual and community level, we also got to ask for accountability from our government. Both need to happen hand in hand.

hence I'm saying, instead of just quoting the past, let's organize and create awareness to enable a movement at a grassroots level. And when I say grassroots, I don't mean rural - at an urban grassroots level. People are starting to see the stark truth, especially since the last couple of years. I'm 32, have paid taxes for the past decade and have not seen ANY re-investment whatsoever towards the tax paying belt. The roads are still bad, infrastructure is crumbling, water mismanagement is through the roof, crimes still go unreported, no houses are ever built for the urban poor ... the list goes on. At some point we the people of India have to take matters into our own hands and challenge the political status quos and establishments. A middle class uprising is inevitable since we do bear the burden of taxes the most at a collective level. Hence we in Mumbai are starting to organize in professional circles to be the change we want to see and preach. This will not happen overnight coz we would be challenging political norms that are as old as Mother India is. I would urge you to follow the urban grassroots movement in USA like Indivisible and Justice Democrats where everyday working people are running for offices so real problems can be solved. This challenge to establishment is very required especially now that in theory there is no opposition party. This gives us a unique opportunity to organize and create a caucus of salaried tax paying citizens who need to be represented in the government.. #IfNotNowWhen

Just recently on 11 April, I think, NDTV covered a village where people didn't have water at all! All of their water pumps had dried out and the local government authorities were of no help at all. Recently, the news channels Republic TV and Times Now were holding a debate over the new orange and blue uniform of the Indian cricket team just because one or two politicians commented it shouldn't be so. Is that really a topic worth wasting a newshour on? How many news channels do you see debating topics like education, employment(or lack of it), health, infrastructure, economy. What are most of the debates in the majority of the news channels over? Mostly they are shouting matches over non issues like the Ram Temple or whether an actor is anti national for criticizing his country because as we all know India is just absolutely perfect without any problems.

During the monsoon, every school, college and corporate sector students/employees need to compulsory volunteer in tree plantation drives in barren areas. Ban the construction of upcoming real estate projects. Introduce solar panels and rainwater harvesting on the rooftops of building. With a clean water act - there would also need to be a whole lot of work (and money) to carry that out. And this problem is not only in India - it is all over the world, in certain areas. In California and parts of the midwest, we are losing our water table. A reckoning is coming and it won't be pretty.

@i_love_rescue_animals
5 жыл бұрын
@@DONNALANDS I agree on the "good luck with that" - population growth will be controlled by Mother Nature - not us. Just so you know - and not to be annoying - but, I learned in school (YEARS ago!!) that even a couple having 2 kids - assuming a very low death rate (for the children) - we will produce exponential population growth. I mean, think about it - that couple, while still alive - and if their two kids each have two kids - then that original couple will have produced SIX people - and if the original couple lives long enough and all of the parents are young parents - they could potentially have great grandkids which (with just two kids per couple) would be 14 people! Think about that - it's kind of scary. So my middle school teacher explained that having ONE child would be the only way to reduce exponential population growth - AND have more people choose to not have kids at all and maybe adopt a child. I also remember as a child that we had about 3.5 million people on the planet - we now have 7.5 billion people - more than doubling the population in about 50 years. That's scary.

Greed, corruption, betrayal and deceit are the cornerstones of India's economic development. There are possibly many thousands of experts who can ad infinitum explain what the physical problems are but when it comes to solutions, they have not understood that pathological behaviour must be addressed FIRST, before solutions to physical problems can be implemented. Desalination plants. Where are they, India? Government there seems so inept
@Crashed131963

When you think of Desalination plants you think of desert countries with little water. India has lots of rivers and lakes but they use them as garbage dumps and toilets.

We Indians don't need to worry. All democratic countries are facing water shortages. These things are common in all democratic countries. However what is more important is to focus on Jharkhand mob lynching, some Bhullibhood actress leaving the industry because her relationship with her imaginary god has gone sour, and the colour of Indian cricket team's jersey and its relation with team's defeat against England. These are more important issues. And oh I almost forgot. Please bring back congress and other secular parties and all Indians will get endless supply of clean water which will be as clean as supplied to White house.

Do the people in India just throw their trash etc anywhere they want. How hard is it to throw you trash away properly? Not to mention they shit on the beaches and destroy their water supplies! Why? Damn do they all honestly not care?

nuclear war and global unrest is the need of the hour, to change our "taken for granted" attitude and to break myth of elites that they r immune and can make an easy escape while billions die, every thing is priceless, money is just an assumption to simplify value exchange and must be revised, money cant exchange real value of things, value of life, value of success, victory, superiority, happiness......and many more basic codes of life leave aside the complex ones......

Always blame the government. Dont let them ride freely. They are in charge. They hold power. If something's happening, then it means they allow it to.
