Almost any sport you play will be restricted if you wear these. 3. We had a full on 2nd language and 3rd language class till grade 10. We never really had any issues with speaking in our native language. I’m trilingual like the majority of indian people. 4. I’ve read scores of sst books and had my jolly time interacting with kids from different schools. No one said vasco da gama discovered india. It’s told nowhere. 5. About pop culture taking over, it’s simple really. Pop is more sellable and appeals more to the general audience. Now, what this woman is trying to do is, enforce her personal preferences over anyone because she feels its right. It’s not. Indian, American, Australia, jamaican, nigerian…. It rlly doesn’t matter when it comes to your preference. Pop is dirt cheap. You can actually listen to it for free with an internet connection. Next up, it has a more melodic sound. Vasco Da Gama discovered India~ I never learnt that in my school. I'm from Assam and I can proudly say that our classical dancers and singers don't have to perform in empty halls. We celebrate Bihu and almost everyone goes to the Bihu function . Here kids learn Assamese language at school from a very young age . We respect our culture and we try to protect it as much as we can . Proud to be an ASSAMESE . Other Indians (not all )should also learn from NORTHEAST how to protect our culture because if not us then who will?

1. Starbucks has an international brand value. Not just in the west. They also have the highest quality beans roasted evenly which is not comparable to filter coffee in india cafés. Some might prefer that but youngsters were excited because they wanted to know what the hype was about. Also, India neither has very high disposable income for Starbucks, neither does it have a coffee culture. So Starbucks will only find a niche in tier 1 cities. Majority of Indians will stick to filter coffee or the classic - chai. 2. I agree with the indian clothes. Lungi is far more comfortable and we should bring back indian clothing. But indians don’t look down upon indian clothes. We still wear it on special occasions and parties. Jeans and t-shirt aren’t traditional western clothes. These are modern inventions. Which is why it’s the norm in most countries, not just india. 3. English has a mass appeal. It’s the most spoken language in the world. It’s also only one of the western languages. Your point would have made sense if more indians were learning Spanish, German, Italian, French than their native languages. Learning my native language doesn’t help me speak with as many people. At most I can converse with village elders. On the other hand, English is a unifying language to majority of the world. You would be making your video in your native language if English wasn’t an effective medium of mass communication. 4. You also comparing Justin Bieber who’s a pop singer with classical music. You need to realize that with time, the taste of people change. Why not compare him to indian pop singers like Arijit Singh? Or compare indian classical music to western classical music? Because it doesn’t fit the narrative? 5. Obsession with fair skin needs to stop. Completely agree with that point. 6. Vasco da gama point was also valid. I remember learning that and it made no sense.

Can you please explain your fifth point.
@vidhanmatolia4734
11 ай бұрын
@@azeem5471 Colourism is thing in India mainly because of british colonization and our minds haven’t been decolonized yet. “Light skin = Beautiful and Dark Skin = Ugly.” This association needs to stop. It is often deeply ingrained upon us by the society and darker skinned people are often discriminated against because of this. India is a country of largely dark skinned people. Yet, how many dark skinned actresses can you name? Most of the actresses are light skinned. Even if they are dark skinned, heavy makeup, editing and lighting is applied to lighten their skin tone. Only 39% of the US population is black and yet their media has more dark skinned representation than in India. Even if you see depictions of Krishna in tv shows, you will see him being depicted as fair skinned even though his main defining characteristic in the Geeta is that he’s dark skinned. This is because Indians are so high on the fair skin superiority complex that they can’t even accept their gods being dark skinned. Fair and Lovely had been fueling this bias and profiting on the insecurities that they created for decades, selling literal bleach for skin. We even have slangs for dark skinned people like “Kalu” or “Kalia”. We still see dark skinned as inferior and discriminate against them.

Even in Pakistan people were waiting in line when Tim Hortins 1st opened (which was yesterday) 2) I found Pants more comfortable and a lot of people too. But I don't mind if you wear dhoti or Vesti. 3) Even the typical "Posh Aunties" who make their children talk in English. Their children know how to read and write in their native language because you need to study minimum 2 languages unless your family migrated to other states. 4) Because Justin was really popular not only in India but the world so ofc you'll find this kinda response. *Solutions to ur arguments* 1.) I would prefer Cafe coffee day than Starbucks coz i like it more.... Plus it's an Indian brand. Even though I live in an industrial town there is no Starbucks in 30 km region. 2.) I know jeans is comfortable.... So absorb or digest that garment from the west and east up their right to claim it their ....you'll need to do propaganda for this. Also in the west (and in india too) what do they wear in their homes ....pyjamas..... Actually pajama (fuckin westy accent 🤣🤣). 3.) Don't worry about the "Posh Aunties" ... capitalism is the right way to solve this problem..just add some money in speaking Sanskrit and respective regional languages.... I am sure the aunties have more obsession with sarkari Naukri than English.... 4.) 😅😅😅..... Justin is not the same anymore ...listen to his songs now. total crap ...and guess who are the cutie romeos nowdays?? .....the kpop idols ....do they sing in English. No but in Korean. It's not a problem create pop music in Sanskrit ....i speak this as a musician. I guess this answers your question....

@@mileshul 1. That's your own preference, but starbucks will always be seen as superior by the general public coz of it's status. Just like how Versace and Gucci are superior brands than Levis or Flying Machine. 2. Didn't get what you said in the first half. Paijama is a urdu word and this garment originated in the Ottoman Empire in 13th century. So it's not 100% indian as you might think. 3. If learning sanskrit made a hefty amount, ofc people would learn it. But the reality is, it doesn't. So the only incentive to learn sanskrit is to read religious scriptures. And as we know people in india as mostly hindus (or muslims) by label, they don;t bother learning sanskrit. 4. Again, a personal preference. There are no popular songs in sanskrit, so the people aren't to be blamed for that. In India, there are far greater number of fans for punjabi and hindi singers.

The main conclusion is you can't force people what to like whether Indian or Western. Indian traditions have a lot of qualities and attractiveness, but, are not performed at the frequency that others are mainly due to productional constraints at the commercial level. Secondly, there is a lack of institutions which focuses in imparting skills in these art forms. Outside India, there are big institutions of cultural arts which produce thousands of skilled students in their respective domains. Thirdly, the audience will always respect skill, no matter what art form it is. Korean industry is not western but it has a large global audience mainly because of its well-developed institutions and an environmental support from guardians to pursue a career in arts. Here, we only focus on academic lines of careers and hence the skills required for a professional in a career of arts goes missing. Hence, instead of telling people to watch Indian cultural art forms, focusing on bringing up the skills in the performers will do the required job.

Pants are more comfortable? Have ever wear dhoti or vesti a single time in your whole life for real ? You don't have any responsibilities towards your culture ? And you're asking what's wrong with ignoring and hating classical songs and listening to English songs ? Simple answer , your ignorance will led to the extinction of classical music in india , just because of your this attitude we had already lost Dhrupad in North India , and Instruments like Rudra veena in South India . And you are just killing your own culture by hating it . And at the end of the day it will be your own fault for killing India and its culture . As of Justin's concert, I believe you haven't been to a Sonu Nigam/Arijit Singh/Shreya Ghoshal or any Indian singer's concert - it's wild. The fair skin obsession doesn't really come from West only. And plz i hate when people start talking abt indian and western culture, all of us are humans, just enjoy what this life has to offer us, take in everything, live ur life to the fullest. and does she even know the meaning of the word "Discover"?? When we say that vasco da gama discovered india, it means he found that india also exists. There is nothing inferior or disrespectful in indians saying vasco da gama discovered india. Even in a foreigner's point of view it means the same. I dont like this channel at all. Feeding indians false information and hate.

She spoke correctly, full points for her thoughts. But ironically, she spoke in English (a language foreign to us). Did anyone realise this? Edit: Folks! I am not doubting her works or criticising her. She is an amazing person, I personally love her channel. I just tried to make the point that for highlighting our culture, we still need English as a connecting language. That's the irony of the situation. Hope the day comes soon, when Hindi would unite all Indians. State languages are very important and so are Hindi and English. Importance of none of the languages can be doubted.

Why do we use English in every field of India? *(Why do we need English)* 1) India is a *"multilingual"* country & we have a different language family's *(Indo-european, Dravidian, indo-iranian sino-tibetan, Tibeto-burman, Semitic, astro-asiatic Etc..)* & India has no _-national language-_ or any _-monolingual policy-_ the country of India is a *"union system'* and "all languages are respected equally" 2) Only English is recognized and used as the *"second official language"* in all states of India! (After their state's official language) 3) English is the only language used in all fields of India *(science, technology, education, medical, business, job field, information, space field, Navy, etc..)* 4) English is emerging as the future *"lingua franca"* of India and the World 5) English is *"indispensable"* today and giving more value to "English" after our "State language" is also good for our financial empowerment. It is better that we accept the reality and equally important to respect all our Indian languages..

I'm European and I fully agree. There nothing wrong with being proud of ones heritage. Indian culture is fantastic. Unfortunately, when I was growing up, I didn't learn about this in my school. I hope and expect that this changed in the last decades and I was lucky enough to learn about the great India during my Yoga teacher training. I was hooked and fascinated to this very day. And what the dark skin is concerned, it's appreciated in my country and associated with holiday sun and beach. You see people of all skin colours with good jobs and bad ones. Many comments say the same and so am I. My point 1. "Obsession" is not the right word. And you can't just use the term 'India' I am sure many people out there still like their native culture. My point 2. Starbucks got the grand welcome because of their marketing strategies and it's global presence. My point 3. Men do know how to wear a vesti/lungi/panche. And using the term 'vesti' is just focusing on one particular part of India. My point 4. Personally we have to take 2 languages on schools and parents teach them how to speak. Schools teach them how to write it. My point 5. Justin Beiber did get a crowd because of his global presence and marketing strategies. Now, classical singers/dancers when the do perform, get an audience. There are people who perform in the UK, nd there were many audiences, even in India there are many audiences. Please stop focusing on the minorities only. My point 5. This I can agree with. Though now it is changing in the south and north industry slowly. My point 6. No, in textbooks it clearly says Vasco Da Gama was the first to discover a proper sea route to India. Please get your facts right. Some people might word it that way but officially it is 'discovered a proper sea route to India'.

I was never bothered with skin complexion, never discriminated anyone or any sort of thing and I always thought beauty and skin complexion are two different things. Anyway, I has a friend who is dark complexioned. Once she told me, “I love my complexion, it’s hot and sexy. I don’t like fair complexion, I don’t find it pretty.” But when she posts her photo she lightens her complexion. So my question is, “is she not being mean?” People with dark complexion always complain but they do the same to others. I find this girl very ignorant.

The last 2 parts are super true. About dressing I think it's not bcz of western culture but convenience. Ppl prefer wearing ready made pants than Dhotis that takes a lot of time. Also English is one of the mandatory language in Indian schools and students are encouraged to talk only in English inside school campass. Most of the school has other subjects like science, maths, etc taught in English too. So obviously growing up mostly writing in English, it becomes a more familiar writing language And it's not just Indians but Classical music as a whole is not preferred by most of the ppl in the world. It's weird to compare Justin Bieber to Classical dancers. It's not like Arijit singh and other popular Indian singers would have an empty concert. Not fair to compare 2 very different genres

One of the only sensible comments here! Though I would like to add that even her last point is false! I have no idea which board in india teaches children that vasco da gama discovered India. It is always taught that during the European colonization era, Portuguese vasco da gama was the first one to come to india and try to trade! There are whole chapters on Greek and Chinese scholars coming to india, Alexander’s March towards india, countless Mughal invasions BEFORE vasco da gama ever stepped foot in india. India was already spoken about in the rest of the civilized world. Literally no history book anywhere says that india was discovered by the Portuguese…just the way no history book talks about any other part of the Asian/European/African continents been discovered by anybody. These continents were close enough for frequent human crossovers throughout recorded history. History books DO talk about the Australian and American discovery because nobody in recorded history had set foot there before the European colonizations. Therefore, in the video this woman seems like she just has a vendetta against ‘western’ culture without understanding that the world is becoming global and people will gravitate towards whatever is easier.
