This video is about Indian Philately. I will tell you about 100 Classic Postage Stamps from India and some of its Feudatory states Alwar, Bamra, Barwani, Bhopal, Bohr, Bijawar, Bundi, Bussahir, Charkhari, Cochin and Poonch. Some rare stamps from Portuguese India are also included in this video. I have described each stamp separately, highlighting year of issuing, color, design, inscription, margins, watermark, and gum condition. Values mentioned are only for the specific image shown with the text in this video. India issued its first postage stamp on 1 July 1852 in the Scinde (Sindh) district. On 1st October 1854 the establishment of uniform postage rates led to the development of the first postage stamps valid for use throughout India. The Scinde stamps are commonly known as Scinde Dawks. Dawk is the anglicised spelling of the Hindi word Dak or post. These stamps, had a value of 1/2 Anna. They were in use until June 1866. Classic stamps of above mentioned Indian States depicted specific inscriptions, symbols, and portraits of famous rulers such as Rana Rangit Singh of Barwani state, Maharaja Sawant Singh Bahadur of Bijawar, and Jagirdar of Bohr. Most of the stamps of India features Queen Victoria. Rare Indian stamps withdesign of Indian dagger have also been discussed. I hope this video will be useful for Indian stamps collectors.
