I was also in the Palm Springs area in March. As a first timer, I watched all of your Joshua Tree/Palm Springs vids beforehand. They added so much to my trip! Ty for the consistently great content.

Thank you so much for your videos! I appreciate all the information you share along with your opinions. I’ve watched a handful of them to help plan for my upcoming trip to Palm Springs for the 2nd time. I will definitely be going to Indian Canyons, Joshua Tree and will go back to Mount San Jacinto. Visiting in April. Can’t wait!

Of all the hikes my wife and I have gone on in California, the one picture I have of her that I got blown up and framed, was from a hike in this area. It was in the Spring and we saw a good amount of flowers. The hike was what I would call a back trail, perhaps a 4-6 mile hike. The pic is from behind her, as she is looking across a vast expanse of desert and mountains.

California Fan Palms (Washingtonia Filifera) are, in my mind, the most visually striking of all the palms native to the United States. This video really shows them off superbly. In cultivation, they readily cross with Mexican Fan Palms (Washingtonia Robusta), making it difficult to find a "pure" California Fan Palm. Sites like Indian Canyon are important refuges for pure strain W. Filiferas.

I did 3 hikes at Indian Canyon, including the ones you did. The old stone house by the gated area was owned by an old gun club. Not too far from Indian Canyon is Tahquitz Canyon. At the end of the hike is a 40-foot waterfall that is active in the spring. I loved that hike so much I've done it 4 times and each time I found something I hadn't seen before. I hope you do a video on that soon. At 74 I can't do a lot of the hikes you do so your video helps fill a gap in my adventures. Thanks.

I love that area! I've been there once. I totally want to go back. On that crazy looking Rock by the parking lot at the base of Andreas canyon there are a bunch of petroglyphs. But they won't tell you about it, they try to keep it a secret. You'd have to climb the rocks to see them I believe, but there is a sign that says keep off the rocks.

Those fan palms are the only palm trees native to California and the entire American west! They only grow in a few isolated canyons in the Mojave. All the other palms you see around Cali are planted ornamentals!

Please come to Chico Northern California sometime in October and do a story on Bidwell park. 🏞️ The reason you want to do this trip in October is because that's our Fall colors in season.
