CRISIL released its indicator of food plate costs for August. As per the report, prices of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis slid on both monthly and yearly basis. While the cost of a vegetarian thali came down by 8% on a YoY basis, that of the non-vegetarian one reduced by 12%. Decline in fuel, vegetable oil , tomato and broiler prices aided the decrease in thali costs. Now, what does this reduction mean for food inflation? Is this decline expected to continue? We discuss this and more on tonight's edition of Business @9 Pushan Sharma, Director- Research, CRISIL Market Intelligence & Analytics, and Agri Businesses Expert Vijay Sardana.
